Describe the number and type of roots for the polynomial (how many real and complex?). x3 + 5x2 – 4x – 2 = 0
zloy xaker [14]
Descartes' rule of signs tells you the one sign change in the coefficients means there's one positive real root. If you change the sign of the odd-power terms, the signs become -++-, so have two sign changes. This means there are 0 or 2 negative real roots.

A graph shows there to be 3 real roots, two of which are negative. Thus there are no complex roots.

Multiply and simplify. Show work to earn BRAINLIEST ANSWER ASAP!98 POINTS<br> (7x-6)(3x^2-4x+5)
zavuch27 [327]

Multiply each term in the first set of parentheses by each term in the second set, then combine like terms.

7x x 3x^2 = 21x^3

7x x -4x = -28x^2

7x x 5 + 35x

-6 x 3x^2 = -18x ^2

-6 x -4x = 24x

-6 x 5 = -30

Combine like terms to get:

21x^3 - 46x^2 + 59x - 30

Seth’s father is thinking of buying his son a six-month movie pass for $40. With the pass, matinees cost $1.00. If matinees are
Ymorist [56]

Answer:

In order for it to benefit his father to buy the pass Seth have to attend the movies for 11 times.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Cost of movie pass = $40

Cost per matinees with pass = $1.00

Cost per matinees without pass = $3.50

To Find:

Number of times must Seth attend in order for it to benefit his father to buy the pass = ?

Solution:

Let x be the number of times he wants to visit

To profit his father

The number of visits without pass =  the number of visits with passin the cost  of $3.50

Then, without pass if he visits for x times then the cost will be  = 3.50x

Also with pass, the number of times he can visit the pass  =  \frac{40}{3.50}

then

\frac{350 x}{3.50} = \frac{40}{3.50}

3.50x = 40

x = \frac{40}{3.50}

x =  11.42

x = 11 (approx)
