Answer:

The scale will read less than 700 N

Explanation:

Given;

normal weight of the person, W = 700 N

The upward acceleration of the elevator is given by Newton's second law of motion;

F = ma

Also, the weight of the person, W = mg

Net force on the person when the elevator accelerates upward is given as;

R = ma + mg

When the elevator slows down at a steady rate, then net force on the person is given as;

R = mg - ma

R = m(g - a), this net force on the person is also the reading of the scale.

Thus, the scale will read less than 700 N.

Which law of motion describes squeal and oppisit forces of action and reaction
Rom4ik [11]

These two forces are called action and reaction forces and are the subject of Newton's third law of motion. Formally stated, Newton's third law is: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. The statement means that in every interaction, there is a pair of forces acting on the two interacting objects.

A motorboat heads due east at 16 m/s across a river that flows due south at 9.0 m/s. a.) What is the resultant velocity of the b
alukav5142 [94]

Answer:

a)V=18.35 m/s (South -East)

b) t =7.41 m/s

c)D= 66.70 m

Explanation:

Given that

Velocity of boat in east direction = 16 m/s

Velocity of river = 9 m/s

a)The resultant velocity V

V=\sqrt{16^2+9^2}\ m/s

V=18.35 m/s (South -East)

b)

We know that

Distance = Velocity x time

Lets t time takes to cross the river

136 = 18.35 x t

t =7.41 m/s

c)

   The distance covered downstream

We know that

Distance = Velocity x time

t= 7.41 s

D= 7.41 x 9 m

D= 66.70 m

Children in a tree house lift a small dog in a basket 4.00 m up to their house. If it takes 187 J of work to do this, what is th
Vika [28.1K]
A=Fh
A - work
F - force
h - distance

F=mg
m - mass (god+basket)

so
A=mgh
187 = m*10*4
187=40m
m=187/40
m=4.675 kg
or 4kg and 675g
