Answer:

Part 1; The total energy = Constant = 200 J

Part 2; Midway, the potential energy = The kinetic energy = 100 J

Explanation:

Part 1

According to the first law of thermodynamics, energy is neither created nor destroyed but changed from one form to another

The total (mechanical) energy = Potential energy + Kinetic energy = Constant

The kinetic energy given to the ball changed vertically up = 200 J

Potential energy = Mass, m × Gravity, g × Height, h

Given that the mass <em>m</em> of the ball and the acceleration due to gravity, <em>g,</em> remain the same, we have;

Potential energy ∝ The height of the ball

The potential energy at ground level = 0 J (Height , h = 0)

∴ The total (mechanical) energy = 0 J + 200 J = 200 J

At the maximum height, the ball momentarily stops, and the kinetic energy = 0 J

Therefore;

The potential energy of the ball at the maximum height, h_{max}, P.E._{max} = 200 J

∴  P.E._{max} = m·g·h_{max} = 200 J

Part 2

At midway we have, the height, h = (h_{max})/2

Therefore, P.E._{Midway}<em> = (</em>m·g·(h_{max}))/2 = (P.E._{max})/2 = (200 J)/2 = 100 J

<em>The potential energy midway = 100</em> J

The  remaining 200 J - 100 J = 100 J is the kinetic energy remaining in the ball

<em>The kinetic energy midway = 100</em> J

Therefore, <em>the total energy midway</em> = 100 J + 100 J = 200 J

What is the force required to produce an acceleration of 46.4
Brilliant_brown [7]
That depends on the mass of the object, and the unit of the '46.4' .

If the '46.4' is ' meters per second² ' , then the force required is

(mass of the object in kilograms) x (46.4)    newtons .

Consider the following equations of motion.
Helen [10]

A) No, the equations presented above are the product of the derivation of position and velocity when the acceleration is constant.

The equations change to polynomial function of the second degree for the description of the acceleration when described as a function of time.

B) Yes, when the acceleration is zero it is concluded that the velocity is constant, therefore they could be used to describe the position as a function of the change in velocity.

Tina is driving her sports car down US1, traveling 27m/s. She sees her friend Rita up ahead, waiting to cross the street at the
mrs_skeptik [129]

Answer:

434 Hz

Explanation:

According to the Doppler effect, when a source of a wave is moving towards an observer at rest, then the observer will observe an apparent frequency which is higher than the original frequency of the source.

In this situation, Tina is driving towards Rita. Tina is the source of the sound wave (the horn), while RIta is the observer. Since the original frequency of the sound is 400 Hz, Rita will hear a sound with a frequency higher than this value.

The only choice which is higher than 400 Hz is 434 Hz, so this is the frequency that Rita will hear.

What is the largest tsunami ever recorded
Pachacha [2.7K]

Answer:

A tsunami with a record run-up height of 1720 feet occurred in Lituya Bay, Alaska. On the night of July 9, 1958, an earthquake along the Fairweather Fault in the Alaska Panhandle loosened about 40 million cubic yards (30.6 million cubic meters) of rock high above the northeastern shore of Lituya Bay.
