Answer:

1. It is confirmation bias because the company conducted a research experiment on their on products. They could have implemented or changed variables that are part of the experiment in order to get the results they would want. It is best to have a third party that don’t work for the company in order to conduct the experiment without biases

2. For this one it could be both yes and no. It could be that John really enjoyed Sports Drink A, so he purposely wrote down the data for the other drink lower. Here he was bias towards what he wants to have a better outcome. Maybe the sport drink A is from a company he likes many of their products. In order to not have confirmation bias, john should get a friend to give him the drinks without the labels, and the drinks should be the same color. That way he only tests the taste and not the way it looks. Both packaging and the color of the drink.

What can be added to an atom to cause a nonvalence electron in the atom to temporarily become a valence electron?
vazorg [7]

Answer:

<em>What can be added to an atom to cause a nonvalence electron in the atom to temporarily become a valence electron </em>is<u><em> energy</em></u><em>.</em>

Explanation:

The normal state of the atoms, where all the electrons are occupying the lowest possible energy level, is called ground state.

The <em>valence electrons</em> are the electrons that occupy the outermost shell, this is the electrons in the highest main energy level (principal quantum number) of the atom.

So, a <em>nonvalence electron</em> occupies an orbital with less energy than what a valence electron does; in consequence, in order to a nonvalence electron jump from its lower energy level to the higher energy level of a valence electron, the former has to absorb (gain) energy.

This new state is called excited state and is temporary: the electron promoted to the higher energy level will emit the excess energy, in the form of light (photons), to come back to the lower energy level and so the atom return to the ground state.

What volume (mL) of a concentrated solution of sodium hydroxide (6.00 M) must be diluted to 187 mL to make a 1.53 M solution of
Len [333]

Answer:

47.68 mL

Explanation:

In this case, we have a <u>dilution problem.</u> So, we have to start with the dilution equation:

C_1*V_1=C_2*V_2

We have to remember that in a dilution procedure we go from a <u>higher concentration to a lower one</u>. With this in mind, We have to identify the <u>concentration values</u>:

C_1~=~6.00~M

C_2~=~1.53~M

The higher concentration is C1 and the lower concentration is C2. Now, we can identify the <u>volume values</u>:

V_1~=~X

V_2~=~187~mL

The V2 value has <u>"mL"</u> units, so V1 would have <u>"mL"</u> units also. Now, we can include all the values into the equation and <u>solve for "V1"</u>, so:

6.00~M*V_1=1.53~M*187~mL

V_1=\frac{1.53~M*187~mL}{6.00~M}=47.68~mL

So, we have to take 47.68 mL of the 6 M and add 139.31 mL of water (187-47.68) to obtain a solution with a final concentration of 1.53 M.

I hope it helps!
