Answer: \Delta G for the reaction   is -90kJ

Explanation:

The balanced chemical reaction is,

2H_2S(g)+SO_2(g)\rightarrow 3S_{rhombic}(s)+2H_2O(g)

The expression for Gibbs free energy change is,

\Delta G=[n\times G_{products}]-[n\times G_{reactants}]

Putting the values we get :

\Delta G=[3\times G_f{S,rhombic}+2\times G_f{H_2O}]-[2\times G_f{H_2S}+1\times G_f{SO_2}]

\Delta G=[(3\times 0kJ/mol)+(2\times -229kJ/mol)]-[(2\times -34kJ/mol) +(1\times -300kJ/mol)]

\Delta G=-90kJ

Thus \Delta G for the reaction2H_2S(g)+SO_2(g)\rightarrow 3S_{rhombic}(s)+2H_2O(g)   is -90kJ

How are the codes (chemical formulas) for pure substances different from those for mixtures?
Gnesinka [82]

Answer : The chemical formula of pure substances are different from those of mixtures because all the matter that exists on earth can be classified into two categories namely; pure substances and mixtures.

A pure substance always consists of a single element or compound. Example Oxygen is formed only of oxygen (O) atoms; whereas the table salt which is formed only by sodium chloride (NaCl) molecules is a compound which is made up of pure elements. A pure substance cannot be further divided into its components.

A mixture is made up of different compounds and/or elements. It can be easily separated using any physical method. Example, sand, salt and saw dust mixed together as a mixture. Also, it will not have a definite chemical formula.

What is the boiling point of a solution that contains 3 moles of KBr in 2000 g of water?
bija089 [108]

Answer:

C. 101.5°C

Explanation:

The computation of the boiling point of a solution is shown below:

As we know that

\Delta T = i K_bm

where,

i = Factor of Van’t Hoff i.e 2KBr

K_b = Boiling point i.e 0.512° C

m = molality  = \frac{Moles\ of\ solute}{Solvent\ mass}

Now place the values to the above formula

So, the boiling point is

(T - 100^\circ C) = 2\times 0.512^\circ \times \frac{3.00\ ml}{2.00\ kg}

After solving this, the t is

= 100° C + 1.536° C

= 101.536° C

Hence, the correct option is C.

Determine the ph of a 0.00598 m hclo4 solution. 1.777 6.434 7.566 2.223 3.558
Black_prince [1.1K]
Answer: 2.223
Explanation:
HClO4, also known as perchloric acid, is a very strong. This means we can assume that complete dissociation occurs.
This means that:
[H+] = [HClO4] = <span>0.00598

pH = -log[H+]
pH = -log[</span><span>0.00598] = 2.223

Note: The base of the log is 10 (conventionally we don't write the base if it is 10)</span>
