P₁ = (x) atm

P₂ = \frac{1}{3} · (P₁) = \frac{x}{3}

V₂ = unknown

(x atm)(1.00 L) = ( \frac{x}{3} atm)(V₂)

divide both sides by ( \frac{x}{3} atm)

( 1.00x )( \frac{3}{x} ) = V₂

x cancels out

(1.00)(3) = V₂

V₂ = 3.00 L
