You have three objects of varying shapes and sizes: Object 1 is a rectangular block of tin. Object 2 is a cube of aluminum. Obje

ct 3 is a sphere of copper.
a. the density of tin is 5.75g/cm2. What is the mass of object 1 in kg if the rectangular block has a volume of 1.34L?
b. what is the volume in cubic inches of object 2 if the cube of aluminum 7.58 inches on a side?
c. what is the mass in kg of object 2? the density of aluminum is 2.70g/cm3
d. what is the volume in cm3 of object 3 if the sphere of copper has a diameter 8.62cm? the volume of the sphere is 4 {pi}^3/3

Answer: a. m = 7.7 kg

              b. V = 435.52 in³

              c. m = 1927 kg

              d. V = 335.37 cm³

              e. m = 3 kg

Explanation: <u>Density</u> is the ratio of mass per volume, i.e., it's the measure of an object's compactness. Its representation is the greek letter ρ.

The formula for density is

\rho=\frac{m}{V}

Density's unit in SI is kg/m³, but it can assume lots of other units.

Some unit transformations necessary for the resolution of the question:

1 L = 1 dm³ = 1000 cm³

1 in³ = 16.3871 cm³

1 g = 0.001 kg

a. V = 1.34 L = 1340 cm³

\rho=\frac{m}{V}

m=\rho.V

m = 5.75 * 1340

m = 7705 g => 7.705 kg

Mass of object 1 with volume 1.34L is 7.7 kg.

b. A cube's volume is calculated as V = side³

V = 7.58³

V = 435.52 in³

Volume of object 2 is 435.52 in³.

c. Using 1 in³ = 16.3871 cm³ to change units:

V = 435.52 * 16.3871

V = 713689.4 cm³

Then, mass will be

m=\rho.V

m = 2.7 * 713689.4

m = 1926961.4 g => 1927 kg

Mass of object 2 is 1927 kg.

d. Volume of a sphere is calculated as V=\frac{4}{3}.\pi.r^{3}

Diameter is twice the radius, then r = 4.31 cm.

Volume is

V=\frac{4}{3}.\pi.(4.31)^{3}

V = 335.37 cm³

Volume of object 3 is 335.37 cm³.

e. m=\rho.V

m = 8.96 * 335.37

m = 3004.91 g => 3 kg

Mass of object 3 is 3 kg.

A 2kg object travels to the right at 5.5 m/s after colliding with a 3kg object, initially at rest, what are the speeds of each o
Snowcat [4.5K]

Answer:

Velocity of Object with 2 kg= 3.390 m/s

Velocity of Object with 3 kg= 3.404 m/s

Explanation:

From the picture, it can be seen that object B is initially at rest while object A is travelling at a speed of 5m/s. After the collision, Object A moves at an angle of 65 degrees while object B moves at an angle of 37 degrees.

We also know that momentum of a closed system is conserved.

Initial momentum along the x-axis = 2*5.5 = 11

Initial momentum along y-axis = 0

Final momentum along x-axis= a*Cos(65)*2 +b*Cos(37) *3= 11 (a is the velocity of object A of 2 kg after collision where as b is the velocity of object B of 3 kg after collision. velocity is multiplied by cosines of the angle from x axis to give the horizontal component of the velocities).

Final momentum along y-axis = a*Sin(65)*2 - b*Sin(37)*3 =0 (We can see that vertical components of velocity are opposite in direction to each other)

Solve both the equations simultaneously for a and b.

Un bloque de 2.5kg de masa es empujado 2.2m a lo largo de una mesa horizontal sin fricción por una fuerza constante de 16.0 N di
Tanzania [10]

Answer:

Explanation:

(a) The applied force has two components Fx and Fy. The Fx component is the only one that does work

W_{x}=F_{x}x=(16N)cos(25)(2.2m)=31.9J

(b) There in no net force in the vertical component

F_{N}-F_{y}-F_{g}=0\\F_{N}=F_{y}+F_{g}=(16N)sin(25)+(2.5kg)(9.8\frac{m}{s^{2}})=31.26N

(c)

F_{g}=Mg=(2.5kg)(9.8\frac{m}{s^{2}})=24.5N

(d)

F_{T}=F_{x}=(16N)cos(25)=14.5N
