If two events are disjoint (i.e. mutually exclusive) they cannot both occur and so we can determine probabilties by simple addition:

P(AorB)=P(A)+P(B)
P(AorB)=\frac{40}{61}+\frac{2}{61}
P(AorB)=\frac{42}{61}
P(AorB)\approx 68.8\%

A more complete answer would use a joint probability table but that's difficult to type out/format correctly here.

What is the answer to this equation?
Maurinko [17]
So I’ll do question 3. So normally you see f(x)= something plus x (something like that) you see it as a function of x.

So that notation of f(-1) means the function of -1. Which means you need to sub in -1 for x.

f(x)=-5x+5
f(-1)=-5(-1)+5
Negative times a negative is a positive
f(-1)=5+5
f(-1)=10

19. You roll two standard number cubes. What is the probability that the sum is odd, given than one of the number cubes shows a
In-s [12.5K]

6 numbers per cube

 if one is a 1, then the other one has to be a 2, 4 or 6 to be an odd sum

1+2=3, 1+4=5,1+6=7

 since there are 3 numbers you can get that would be a 3/6 ( reduce to 1/2) probability

so 1/2 probability

A manufacturer produces cherry, peppermint, cinnamon, and orange-flavored gum. Each flavor is available with sugar or sugar-free
Semenov [28]

Answer: The total number of different types of labels will the manufacturers have to produce = 24.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: Choices for flavours = 4

Choices for sugar = 2  {either sugar or sugar free}

Choices for the qunatity = 3

By Fundamental counting principle,

Total number of different types of labels will have to produce = (Choices for flavors) x (Choices for sugar)x (Choices for the quantity )

= 4 x  2x 3

=24

Hence, the total number of different types of labels will the manufacturers have to produce = 24.
