ammonium phosphate is an important ingredient in many solid fertilizers. It can be made by reacting aqueous phosphoric acid with

liquid ammonia. Calculate the moles of ammonium phosphate produced by the reaction of 2.4 mol of ammonia. Be sure your answer has a unit symbol, if necessary, and round it to significant digits.

Answer:

0.57 moles (NH4)3PO4 (2 sig. figs.)

Explanation:

To quote, J.R.

"Note:  liquid ammonia (NH3) is actually aqueous ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH) because NH3 + H2O -> NH4OH.

H3PO4(aq) + 3NH4OH(aq) ==> (NH4)3PO4 + 3H2O

Assuming that H3PO4 is not limiting, i.e. it is present in excess

1.7 mol NH4OH x 1 mole (NH4)3PO4/3 moles NH4OH = 0.567 moles = 0.57 moles (NH4)3PO4 (2 sig. figs.)"

Gallium oxide, Ga.Oy, forms when gallium is combined with oxygen. A 1.25 g of Ga is allowed to react with excess oxygen and 1.68
mrs_skeptik [129]

Answer : The chemical formula of a compound is, Ga_2O_3

Solution :  Given,

Mass of gallium = 1.25 g

Mass of gallium oxide = 1.68 g

Mass of oxygen = Mass of gallium oxide - Mass of gallium

Mass of oxygen = 1.68 - 1.25 = 0.43 g

Molar mass of Ga = 69.72 g/mole

Molar mass of O = 16 g/mole

Step 1 : convert given masses into moles.

Moles of Ga = \frac{\text{ given mass of Ga}}{\text{ molar mass of Ga}}= \frac{1.25g}{69.72g/mole}=0.0179moles

Moles of O = \frac{\text{ given mass of O}}{\text{ molar mass of O}}= \frac{0.43g}{16g/mole}=0.027moles

Step 2 : For the mole ratio, divide each value of moles by the smallest number of moles calculated.

For Ga = \frac{0.0179}{0.0179}=1

For O = \frac{0.027}{0.0179}=1.5

The ratio of Ga : O = 1 : 1.5

To make in whole number we multiple ratio by 2, we get:

The ratio of Ga : O = 2 : 3

The mole ratio of the element is represented by subscripts in empirical formula.

The Empirical formula = Ga_2O_3

The empirical formula weight = 2(69.72) + 3(16) = 187.44 gram/eq

Now we have to calculate the molecular formula of the compound.

Formula used :

n=\frac{\text{Molecular formula}}{\text{Empirical formula weight}}

n=\frac{187.44}{187.44}=1

Molecular formula = (Ga_2O_3)_n=(Ga_2O_3)_1=Ga_2O_3

Therefore, the chemical of the compound is, Ga_2O_3

lesya692 [45]

Answer:

14. 13.2cg = 1.32dg

15. 3.8m = 0.0038km

16. 24.8L = 24800mL

17. 0.87kL = 870L

18. 26.01cm = 0.0002601km

19. 0.001hm = 10cm

Explanation:

14. 13.2/10 = 1.32

15. 38/1000 = 0.0038

16. 24.8(1000) = 24,800

17. 0.87(1000) = 870

18. 26.01/100000 = 0.0002601

19. 0.001hm(10000) = 10

An easy way to do these by yourself is to familiarize yourself with what each prefix means. Once you do this, you can multiply the value of the prefix when converting from a smaller unit of measurement to a larger one and divide the value of the prefix when converting from a large unit of measurement to a smaller one.

A solution is made containing 4.92 g of sodium lithium chloride per 347 g of water.
Margaret [11]

% mass of a solution is the mass of the solute present per 100 g of solution. It can be calculated using the formula,

Mass % = \frac{Mass of solute (g)}{Mass of solution (g)} * 100

Mass of solute = 4.92 g

Mass of solvent, water = 347 g

Total mass of solution = 347 g + 4.92 g = 351.92 g

Mass % of the solute = \frac{4.92 g}{351.92 g} * 100 = 1.398 %

Therefore, the weight/weight % = 1.398 %

Curicun, named for marie curie, has approximately 25 different isotopes that emit an alpha particle when their nuclei decay. if
Jet001 [13]

Answer:

Option B. Plutonium-243

Explanation:

To know the the correct answer to the question, we shall write the balanced equation for the reaction showing curium-247 (²⁴⁷Cm) emitting alpha particle. This is illustrated below:

²⁴⁷₉₆Cm —> ᵐₙX + ⁴₂He

Next, we shall determine m, n and X. This can be obtained as follow:

247 = m + 4

Collect like terms

247 – 4 = m

243 = m

Thus, m is 243

96 = n + 2

Collect like terms

96 – 2 = n

94 = n

Thus, n is 94

m = 243

n = 94

ᵐₙX => ²⁴³₉₄X => ²⁴³₉₄Pu

Thus, the equation is:

²⁴⁷₉₆Cm —> ²⁴³₉₄Pu + ⁴₂He

From the illustrations above, the daughter nuclei formed is Plutonium-243 (²⁴³₉₄Pu)
