Answer:

A physical change, such as a state change or dissolving, does not create a new substance, but a chemical change does. ... In a chemical reaction, reactants contact each other, bonds between atoms in the reactants are broken, and atoms rearrange and form new bonds to make the products.

Classify each of the following as a compound, a homogeneous mixture, or a heterogeneous mixture: (a) distilled water; (b) gasoli
Marina CMI [18]

Explanation:

A mixture which shows presence of uniform composition of solute particles into the solvent is known as a homogeneous mixture.

 • Distilled water is a clear solution in which there is uniform composition of solute particles into the solution.
 • Gasoline is mixture of different compounds which are evenly distributed. Therefore, it is also a homogeneous mixture.
 • Wine is also a clear solution in which particles are evenly distributed. Hence, it is a homogeneous mixture.

On the other hand, a mixture which shows non-uniform composition of solute particles into the solvent is known as a heterogeneous mixture.

 • Beach sand is a mixture of different particles present in varying composition. Hence, it is a heterogeneous mixture.
 • Also, in air there are different gases present in different composition. Mover over, there is presence of fog and smoke into the air. Hence, it is a heterogeneous mixture.

What is water pollution?

Water pollution is defined as the contamination of water bodies, usually as a result of human activity, in such a way that their lawful uses are harmed.

The activities of human that creating water pollution are:

 • Uses of fertilizers
 • Harmful chemical in agriculture
 • Detergents for washing clothes
 • Wastes from industries

And depletion in the ozone layer are due to halogen source gases, which contain chlorine and bromine atoms, are produced by human activities. These emissions into the atmosphere eventually contribute to ozone depletion in the stratosphere.

Hence human activities are uses of fertilizers, detergents and many other things.
