A scientist watched a desert lizard stand in the rain. It spread its legs stretching its body wide, while holding its head and t

ail down. It kept opening and closing its mouth. He observed that the lizard repeated the behavior during each rainstorm. What is most likely the scientist's hypothesis after observing the lizard in the desert.

Answer:

Hypothesis:

When a scientist see lizard behaving in this way in each rainystrom in the desert,  he can make a hypothesis about the lizard’s way of drinking water. He can say that lizard spread its legs to wide body. In this way it catches and carry water in microscopic channels on its body. These channels lead water to its mouth and it drinks this water by opening and closing mouth continuously.

Roger pushes a box on a 30° incline. If he applies a force of 60 newtons parallel to the incline and displaces the box 10 meters
melomori [17]

Pretty sneaky, I must say !

                   Work = (force) x (distance)

That formula says nothing about the directions of the force OR
the distance.  As long as they're both in the same direction, they
can both be horizontal (sliding a crate on the floor), vertical (lifting
something), or on any slant in between.

Roger's force and distance are both in the same direction ... the
direction of the incline ... so

                   Work = (60 newtons) x (10 meters)  =  600 joules.

IMPORTANT 3 QUESTIONS!
Brums [2.3K]

Answer:

7. 20,000,000 mL.

8. 8,000 m.

9. 120,000 secs.

10. 4

Explanation:

7. Determination of the volume in millilitres (mL)

Volume in litre (L) = 20,000 L

Volume in millilitres (mL) =..?

The volume in mL can be obtained as follow:

1 L = 1,000 mL

Therefore,

20,000 L = 20,000 x 1,000 = 20,000,000 mL.

Therefore, 20,000 L is equivalent to 20,000,000 mL.

8. Determination of the distance in metre (m)

Distance in mile = 5 mile

Distance in metre =?

First, we shall convert from mile to kilometre.

This can be done as follow:

1 mile = 1.6 km

Therefore,

5 mile = 5 x 1.6 = 8 km

Finally, we shall convert 8 km to metre (m).

This is illustrated below:

1 km = 1,000 m

Therefore,

8 km = 8 x 1,000 = 8,000 m

Therefore, 5 miles is equivalent to 8,000 m.

9. Determination of the time in seconds.

Time = 400 minutes for 5 days.

First, we shall convert 400 mins to hour.

This is illustrated below:

60 minutes = 1 hour

Therefore,

400 mins = 400/60 = 20/3 hours

The time (hours) is 20/3 hours in 1 day.

Therefore, the time (hours) in 5 days will be = 20/3 x 5 = 100/3 hours.

Next, we shall convert 100/3 hours to minutes.

This is illustrated below:

1 hour = 60 minutes

Therefore,

100/3 hours = 100/3 x 60 = 2000 mins

Finally, we shall convert 2000 mins to seconds.

This is illustrated below:

1 mins = 60 secs

2000 mins = 2000 x 60 = 120,000 secs.

Therefore, the time is 120,000 secs.

10. Determination of the number of significant figures.

To obtain the significant figures of a number, we simply count all the numbers available.

Therefore, the number of significant figures for 9876 is 4.

A very long, solid insulating cylinder has radius R; bored along its entire length is a cylindrical hole with radius a. The axis
lawyer [7]

Answer:

The value of the electric field is E_{net} = \dfrac{r \textbf{b}}{2\epsilon_{0}}

Explanation:

We know that the electric field inside a solid cylinder at a distance \textbf{r} from the centre is given by

E = \dfrac{\rho \textbf{r}}{2 \epsilon_{0}}

Let's consider the cross-section of the cylinder as shown in the figure. Let `O' be the centre of the long solid insulating cylinder having radius 'R'. Also consider that O' be the cetre of the hole of radius 'a' situated at a distance 'b' from 'O'. Given, the volume charge density of the material is 'r'. So, the volume charge density inside the hole will be '-r'. Let's consider 'P' be any arbitrary point inside the hole situated at a distance 's' from O'.

So, the electric field 'E_{O}' due to the long cylinder at point 'P' is given by

E_{O} = \dfrac{r \textbf{c}}{2 \epsilon_{0}}

and the electric field 'E_{O'}'due to the hole at point 'P' is given by

E_{O'} = \dfrac{\rho \textbf{s}}{2 \epsilon_{0}}

So the net electric field (E_{net}) inside the hole is given by

E_{net} = E_{O} - E_{O'} = \dfrac{r}{2\epsilon_{0}}(\textbf{c - s}) = \dfrac{r \textbf{b}}{2\epsilon_{0}}
