Answer:

a. Total displacement = 140 km/h

b. Average velocity = 35 km/h

Explanation:

<u>Given the following data;</u>

Average velocity A = 80 km/h

Time A = 2.5 hours

Average velocity B = 40 km/h

Time B = 1.5 hours

a. To find the total displacement for the 4 h trip;

Total time = Time A + Time B

Total time = 2.5 + 1.5

Total time = 4 hours

Next, we would determine the displacement at each velocity.

Mathematically, displacement is given by the formula;

Displacement = velocity * time

Substituting into the formula, we have;

Displacement A = 80 * 2.5

Displacement A = 200 km/h

Displacement B = 40 * 1.5

Displacement B = 60 km/h

Total displacement = Displacement A - Displacement B

Total displacement = 200 - 60

<em>Total displacement = 140 km/h</em>

b. To find the average velocity for the total trip;

Mathematically, the average velocity of an object is given by the formula;

Average \; velocity = \frac {total \; displacement}{total \; time}

Substituting into the formula, we have;

Average \; velocity = \frac {140}{4}

<em>Average velocity = 35 km/h</em>

a 2.0kg ball is resting at the top of a 20 m hill. if the ball rolls down the entire hill, how fast will it be going?
ratelena [41]

Speed of ball is 19.80 m/s .

<u>Explanation:</u>

We have , a 2.0 kg ball is resting at the top of a 20 m hill. if the ball rolls down the entire hill,We need to find how fast will it be going.Let's find out:

We know that,

Potential energy : This is the energy possessed by an object due to it's virtue of height and is given by P.E = mgh , where m is mass , g is acceleration due to gravity & h is height !

Kinetic energy : This is the energy possessed by an object due to it's virtue of motion and is given by K.E = \frac{1}{2}mv^2 , where m is mass & v is the velocity of object !

By conservation of energy :

⇒ P.E.=K.E

⇒ mgh=\frac{1}{2} mv^2

⇒ v=\sqrt{2gh}

According to question , h=20 m i.e.

⇒ v=\sqrt{2(9.8)20}

⇒ v=\sqrt{392}

⇒ v=19.80m/s

Hence , Speed of ball is 19.80 m/s .

How to tell if vector is unit vector
Aliun [14]
You can tell if vector is an unit because it has something to do with taking the magnitude of the vector.
also has a length 1. thus you should use pythagoras to check.

Hope this help

A bowling ball reaches a speed of 10 m/s on the first roll, on the second roll it reaches a speed of 8 m/s. Which roll had the m
Archy [21]

Kinetic energy is related to an object's mass and velocity. The greater the velocity, the greater its kinetic energy will be if the mass remains constant. (so, the 10 m/s one)
