Answer:

The function have a constant ratio

No, it does not represent an exponential function.

Step-by-step explanation:

As given,

Ines has saved $5. She doubles the amount she saves each week.

⇒ In first week she saved = $5

   In second week she saved = 2×$5 = $10

   In third week she saved = 2×$10 = 20

  In fourth week she saved = 2×$20 = 40

and so on..

∴ we get the series

5, 10, 20, 40 ,.......

If the series is given as a, b, c, d, ..... , then

The common difference is defined as d = b-a = c-b

The common ration is defined as r = \frac{b}{a} = \frac{c}{b}

Here, in the given question

The series is - 5, 10, 20, 40

This has no common difference , d =   10 - 5 (= 5 )≠ 20 - 10 (= 10)

As 5 ≠ 10

So the function does not define common difference .

Now,

This has common ratio , r =  \frac{10}{5} (=2) = \frac{20}{10}(=2)

As 2 = 2

So, the function represent common ratio

Now,

The function does not represent an exponential function because it is increased by common ratio.

A tortoise and a hare are competing in a 2000-meter race. The arrogant hare decides to let the tortoise have a 550-meter head st
andrew-mc [135]

Answer:

a) distance covered by hare d1 = 8t

b) distance covered by tortoise d2 = 5t + 550

c) ∆d = 550 - 3t

Step-by-step explanation:

Given;

Speed of hare u = 8m/s

Speed of tortoise v = 5 m/s

Initial distance of tortoise d0 = 550 m

a) using the equation of motion;

distance covered = speed × time + initial distance

d = vt + d0

For hare;

d0 = 0

Substituting the values;

d1 = 8t + 0

d1 = 8t

b)using the equation of motion;

distance covered = speed × time + initial distance

d2 = vt + d0

For tortoise;

d0 = 550m

Substituting the values;

d2 = 5t + 550

d2 = 5t + 550 m

c) the number of meters the tortoise is ahead of the hare.

∆d = distance covered by tortoise - distance covered by hare

∆d = d2 - d1

Substituting the values;

∆d = (5t + 550) - 8t

∆d = 550 - 3t

Pair-1: log_{2}x = 5 ↔ 32
Pair-2: log_{10}x = 3 ↔ 1000
Pair-3: log_{4}x = 2 ↔ 16
Pair-4: log_{5}x = 4 ↔ 625

Explanation:

Pair-1:
log_{2}x = 5 \\  \frac{ln(x)}{ln(2)} = 5 \\ ln(x) = 5 * ln(2) \\ x = e^{5*ln(2)} \\ x = 32

Pair-2:
log_{10}x = 3 \\ \frac{ln(x)}{ln(10)} = 3 \\ ln(x) = 3 * ln(10) \\ x = e^{3*ln(10)} \\ x = 1000

Pair-3:
log_{4}x = 2 \\ \frac{ln(x)}{ln(4)} = 2 \\ ln(x) = 2 * ln(4) \\ x = e^{2*ln(4)} \\ x = 16

Pair-4:
log_{5}x = 4 \\ \frac{ln(x)}{ln(5)} = 4 \\ ln(x) = 4 * ln(5) \\ x = e^{4*ln(5)} \\ x = 625
