Yes, there is a poverty problem in the United States due to wage inequality, inflation (a general increase in prices and fall in the purchasing value of money), and poor education systems.

There's a poverty problem all around the world because some people are struggling to provide for basic needs like health, education, and access to clean water and sanitation.

The government should do something about poverty because it's not up to the people to fix it, they have no power or funds whatsoever to get out of a poor situation such as poverty.

The government can lessen the rates of poverty and get more people out of poverty by helping people get more jobs and strengthen existing programs like unemployment insurance, food stamps, and cash assistance for example.
