Given:

A rectangular greeting card uses a geometric design containing 4 congruent kites.

Consider the below figure attached with this question.

Length of card = 8 inches

Width of card = 4 inches

To find:

The area of one kite.

Solution:

The kites are connected to each other as shown below.

The length of a kite is:

\dfrac{8}{2}=4 inches

The width of a kite is:

\dfrac{4}{2}=2 inches

Area of a kite is:

A=\dfrac{1}{2}d_1d_2

Where, d_1,d_2 are diagonals of the kite.

Length and width of a kite are 4 inches and 2 inches respectively. So, the diagonals of a kite are 4 inches and 2 inches.

Using the above formula, we get

A=\dfrac{1}{2}(4)(2)

A=4

The area of a kite is 4 sq. in.

Therefore, the correct option is A.

A ballplayer catches a ball 3.4s after throwing it vertically upward. with what speed did he throw it, and what height did it re
Daniel [21]

From the equation of motion, we know,

s=ut+\frac{1}{2}at^{2}

Where s= displacement

u= initial velocity

a= gravitational force

t= time

Displacement is 0 since the ball comes back to the same point from where it was thrown.

A = -9.8m/s^{2} since the ball is thrown upwards.

Plug the known values into the equation.

=> 0=u\left ( 3.4 \right )+\frac{1}{2}\left ( -9.81 \right )(3.4^{2})

Solving for u gives :

u= 16.67 m/ sec ....... equation (1)

At maximum height, final velocity i.e v is 0

Time take to reach the top = \frac{3.4}{2} = 1.7 sec

v^{2}=u^{2}+2as

=> 0=(16.67)^{2}+2(-9.81)(s)

Solving for s we get

s= 14.16 m

Answer:

5.01

Step-by-step explanation:

if she can go 6.7 miles in an hour, then the way we find out how much she does in 3/4 of an hour is divide 6.7 by 4. 6.7/4=1.67 and then, to get 3/4, we multiply 1.67 by 3.

Tenth Term: 34:

Plug in 10, 3 x 10 = 30 + 4 = 34

B. 4n - 5

First Four Terms: -1, 3, 7, 11

Tenth Term: 35

Plug in 10, 4 x 10 = 40 - 5 = 35

Can someone help me? It's urgent and thank you!
Alex_Xolod [135]

Answer:

15.2%

Step-by-step explanation:

There are 12 marbles in total and there are 5 red marbles, so the probability of getting a red marble is 5/12. There are now 11 marbles and there are 4 blue marbles. So the probability of getting a blue marble is 4/11.

You multiply these 2 values together.

5/12 * 4/11 = 20/132 = 0.1515

This is about 15.2%

Rewrite the function in standard form, intercept form, find the vertex, find the y-intercept, and find the x-intercepts.
jasenka [17]

Answer:

We have the function, f(x)=(x+3)^{2}-4

On simplifying, we get,

f(x)=x^2+6x+9-4

i.e. f(x)=x^2+6x+5

Thus, the standard form of the function is f(x)=x^2+6x+5.

Now, the factors of the given functions are (x+1) and (x+5).

<em>Since, the intercept form of the function is the factored form of the function.</em>

So, we have, intercept form of the function is f(x)=(x+1)(x+5).

Now, we know that,

Value of x-coordinate of the vertex is \frac{-b}{2a} i.e. \frac{-6}{2\times 1} i.e. \frac{-6}{2} i.e. x= -3

Then, f(-3)=(-3)^2+6\times (-3)+5 i.e. f(-3)=9-18+5 i.e. f(-3)=-4

So, the vertex of the function is (-3,-4).

Further, we know that,<em> 'the y-intercept of a function is the point where the function crosses y-axis'.</em>

So, when x=0, we have, f(0)=0^2+6\times 0+5 i.e. f(0) = 5

Thus, the y-intercept is (0,5)

Also, <em>'the x-intercept of a function is the point where the function crossese x-axis'.</em>

Then, for f(x)=0, we have 0=x^2+6x+5 i.e. 0=(x+1)(x+5) i.e. x= -1 and x= -5

Thus, the x-intercept are (-1,0) and (-5,0).
