A plant’s growth rate is observed and recorded for a science experiment. The observer notes that on week 2, the plant is 4 inche

s high. On week 5, the plant is 13 inches high.
Part A: Write an equation in point-slope form that could model the relationship between the week, x, and the height of the plant, y.

Answer:

y - 13 = 3(x - 5)

Step-by-step explanation:

x represents week and y represents inches. Week 2 and week 5 = 2 to 5 = three number difference. The inches which is 4 and 13 have a 9 inched difference. So like I said week represents x and y represent inches so now u have to find the slope, which would be y/x so replace it with the numbers we got so it would now be 9/3. The simplified version would be 3. So the slope is 3.

Point-slope equation: y-y^1=m(x-x^1), y^1 and x^1 are just some random points on the graph, but since we don't have a graph we can use either week 2 and 4 inches or week 5 and 13 inches because if this were a graph, those would be existing points on the graph. And m is the slope so just replace m with 3. We'll use 5 and 13 so: y - 13 = 3(x - 5)

side note: kinda took a long time sorry haha, I had to refresh my knowledge on point-slope equations since it's been a long time since i learned it.

Bonnie runs at an average speed 4 metres per second for 240 seconds.
telo118 [61]

Answer:

960 metres in 240 seconds.

Step-by-step explanation:

this is because they can run 4 metres every second.

the number of seconds they ran multiplied by the length of their run in a second is your answer.

For every 3 laps that Jackie swims, Ronnie swims 4 laps. During practice, they swam a combined total of 63 laps. How many laps d
Flura [38]

Answer:

36 laps Ronnie swim during practice .

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us assume that the laps that Ronnie swims be x .

Let us assume that the laps that Jackie swims be y .

As given

For every 3 laps that Jackie swims, Ronnie swims 4 laps.

i.e

3 × laps that Ronnie swims = 4 × laps that Jackie swims

3 × x = 4 × y

3x = 4y

Equation becomes

x + y  = 63

Thus by using 3x = 4y .

y = \frac{3x}{4}

Thus

x +\frac{3x}{4} = 63

4x + 3x = 63 × 4

7x = 252

x = 36

Put the value of x in the equation x + y  = 63

36 + y = 63

y = 63 - 36

y = 27

Therefore the 36 laps Ronnie swim during practice .

What are the dimensions of a rectangle whose length is 4 more than twice the width as whose perimeter is 3 less than 7 times the
Lyrx [107]
L= length= 2w+4
w= width
P= perimeter= 7w-3

SOLVE FOR WIDTH
Perimeter of a Rectangle Formula
P= 2(l + w)

7w - 3= 2((2w + 4) + w)
combine like terms in parentheses

7w - 3= 2(3w + 4)
multiply 2 by parentheses

7w - 3= (2*3w) + (2*4)
multiply in parentheses

7w - 3= 6w + 8
add 3 to both sides

7w= 6w + 11
subtract 6w from both sides

w= 11 width

LENGTH
l= 2w + 4= 2(11) + 4= 22 + 4= 26

PERIMETER
P= 7w-3= 7(11) - 3= 77 - 3= 74

CHECK
74= 2(26 + 11)
74= 2(37)
74= 74

ANSWER: The length is 26, the width is 11 and the perimeter is 74.

Hope this helps! :)
