What is the slope of a line perpendicular to the line whose equation is x - y = 6. Fully reduce your answer. Answer: Submit Answ
NikAS [45]

Answer:

Explanation:

The standard form of an equation is expressed as y = mx+b

m is the slope

Given the equation x - y = 6

Rewrite in standard form;

-y = -x + 6

Multiply through by -1

-(-y) = -(-x) - 6

y = x - 6

Compare with the standard equation

mx = 1x

mx+b

m is the slope

Please help! I can't tell if the side length they provide is the base or the height of the triangle
Elza [17]

The altitude of the balloon is the height of the triangle.

The horizontal distance from the meteorologist's eye to right-under the balloon is the base of the triangle.

The 1503 meters straight from the balloon to the meteorologist's eye is the hypotenuse.

Can you please help me with this math problem
Lera25 [3.4K]
This question is nasty. It sounds like you should be finding area of the figure you see. I'll do that first, although I don't think it's the right answer. (But it might be).

Area Trapezoid = (b1 + b2) * h / 2
b1 = 8
b2 = 12
h = 5
Area Trapezoid = (8 + 12 ) * 5 / 2
Area Trapezoid = 20 * 5/2
Area = 50 square feet.

The problem is that no lumber yard will cut that for you without charging you. The practical answer is 12 * 5  = 60 square feet is what you will have to buy. Then you cut out the triangles for yourself.

1 inch drop for every 25 inches length
40 feet= 12 x 40 = 480 inches
There are 19.2-25 inch lengths in 480 inches.
So there is a  19.2 inch drop  in 40 feet.

Hope this helps :)
