Speed equation: speed = total distance/total time

speed = 40.0m / 8.50s

speed = 4.71 m/s

acceleration equation: acceleration = change in velocity/time

4.71 - 2.80 = 1.91 (change in velocity)

acceleration = 1.91/8.50

acceleration = .22 m/s^2

a) 4.71 m/s
b) .22 m/s^2

<u>Answer:</u>

<u>For a:</u> The original speed of the truck is 4.76 m/s

<u>For b:</u> The acceleration of the truck is -0.23m/s^2

<u>Explanation:</u>

  • <u>For a:</u>

Speed is defined as the rate at which an object moves with respect to time.

To calculate the time taken for the given speed, we use the equation:

s=\frac{d}{t}

where,

s = speed of the truck

d = distance traveled = 40.0 m

t = time taken by truck = 8.50 s

Putting values in above equation, we get:

s=\frac{40.0m}{8.50s}=4.76m/s

Hence, the original speed of the truck is 4.76 m/s

  • <u>For 2:</u>

Acceleration is defined as the rate of change of velocity with respect to time.

Mathematically,

a=\frac{v-u}{t}

where,

v = final velocity  of the truck = 2.80 m/s

u = initial velocity  of the truck = 4.76 m/s

t = time taken  = 8.50 s

Putting values in above equation, we get:

a=\frac{2.80-4.76}{8.50}=-0.23m/s^2

Negative sign represents slowing down or deceleration.

Hence, the acceleration of the truck is -0.23m/s^2

Use the diagram below to answer the following question:
d1i1m1o1n [39]

Answer:

3.0 cm

Explanation:

We can solve this problem by using the mirror equation:

\frac{1}{f}=\frac{1}{p}+\frac{1}{q}

where

f is the focal length of the mirror

p is the distance of the object from the mirror

q is the distance of the image from the mirror

In this problem we have:

f = 1.5 cm is the focal length of the mirror (positive for a concave mirror)

p = 3.0 cm is the distance of the object from the mirror

Therefore, the distance of the image is:

\frac{1}{q}=\frac{1}{f}-\frac{1}{p}=\frac{1}{1.5}-\frac{1}{3.0}=\frac{1}{3.0}\\\rightarrow q=3.0 cm

And the positive sign means that the image is real.

(The second part of the exercise is just the description of the image of the first exercise).

Why aren’t the Appalachian Mountains still as tall as the Himalayas?
stealth61 [152]

Answer:

mountains are limited in their theoretical height by several processes. First is isostasy: the bigger a mountain gets, the more it weighs down its tectonic plate, so it sinks lower. ... Bottom line: mountains can get taller than Mount Everest in earth gravity, like the Appalachians probably did—but not much taller.

Si pudieras viajar a la Luna:
Nostrana [21]

Answer:

i) Distancia, ii) La cinta métrica es impracticable.

Explanation:

The drawing shows a large cube (mass = 28.6 kg) being accelerated across a horizontal frictionless surface by a horizontal force
MrRissso [65]

Answer:

P= 454.11 N

Explanation:

Since P is the only horizontal force acting on the system, it can be defined as the product of the acceleration by the total mass of the system (both cubes).

P= (M+m)*a\\a = \frac{P}{28.6 +4.3}\\a = \frac{P}{32.9}

The friction force between both cubes (F) is defined as the normal force acting on the smaller cube multiplied by the coefficient of static friction. Since both cubes are subject to the same acceleration:

F = m * a*\mu \\F= 4.3*0.710*\frac{P}{32.9}\\F=3.053*\frac{P}{32.9}

In order for the small cube to not slide down, the friction force must equal the weight of the small cube:

3.053*\frac{P}{32.9} = 4.3 * g\\\\P = \frac{4.3*9.8*32.9}{3.053} \\P= 454.11 N

The smallest magnitude that P can have in order to keep the small cube from sliding downward is 454.11 N

What is a difference between physical traits and personality traits?
malfutka [58]

Answer:

A physical trait is visible to the naked eye, such as, having six fingers; and a character trait is invisible to the naked eye, such as, being charming. Both can be subjective, for instance, claiming somebody has a big nose is a subjective comment about somebody's physical appearance.
