Answer:

The numbers are 5 and 20.

Step-by-step explanation:

To find : What are the numbers?

Solution :

Let the one number be 'x'.

The reciprocal is \frac{1}{x}

The another number be 'y'.

The reciprocal is \frac{1}{y}

One number is four times another number.

i.e. x=4y .....(1)

The sum of their reciprocals is \frac{1}{4}.

i.e. \frac{1}{x}+\frac{1}{y}=\frac{1}{4} ....(2)

Substitute (1) in (2),

\frac{1}{4y}+\frac{1}{y}=\frac{1}{4}

\frac{1+4}{4y}=\frac{1}{4}

4y=20

y=5

One number is 4y=4(5)=20.

Therefore, the numbers are 5 and 20.

If one number is x the other is 4x. I read the sum of their reciprocals as ¼=1/x+1/(4x).
Multiply through by 4x: x=4+1=5. So the numbers are 5 and 20.

A car skids to a stop, leaving four skid marks with an average length of 60 feet. The road is asphalt. Skid tests reveal a drag
SSSSS [86.1K]

Answer:

37 mph

Step-by-step explanation:

Sum of forces on the car in the y direction:

∑F = ma

N − mg = 0

N = mg

Sum of forces on the car in the x direction:

∑F = ma

-Nμ = ma

-mgμ = ma

-gμ = a

Given μ = 0.75 and g = 32 ft/s²:

a = -(32 ft/s²) (0.75)

a = -24 ft/s²

Use kinematics to find the initial velocity.

v² = v₀² + 2aΔx

(0 ft/s)² = v₀² + 2 (-24 ft/s²) (60 ft)

v₀ ≈ 53.7 ft/s

v₀ ≈ 37 mph

A production system has a total daily output of 400 units and a total labor of 350 hours, what kind of productivity measure can
fomenos

Answer:

1.14 products per hour of labor

Step-by-step explanation:

To calculate the daily productivity would be the amount of products per hour of labor.

That is: 400 products / 350 hours of labor, and that is approximately 1.14 products per hour of labor.

Which means that for every hour of labor, 1.14 products are produced in one day, which would be a factor of productivity.

CD and EF are parrellel to AB.They divide the area of triangle PAB into three equal parts. If PE=1, what is AC?
andrew11 [14]

Answer:

AC is approximately 0.3178

Step-by-step explanation:

The given parameters are;

In ΔPAB

CD ║ EF ║ AB

The area of triangle ΔPEF = 1/3 × area of triangle ΔPAB

Therefore, PE = 1/√3·PA

PA = √3

We have area of ΔPCD = 2/3 × area of triangle ΔPAB

∴ PC = √(2/3) × PA = √(2/3) × √3

PC = √2

Therefore, AC = PA - PC = √3 - √2

AC = √3 - √2 ≈ 0.3178
