In John Adam´s opinion, the person who possessed the experience and character to be commander in chief of the Continental Army was GEORGE WASHINGTON.

In 1775 John Adam proposed to Congress that the men in Boston should be considered a Continental Army led by a General.

He thought that they will suceced in his military campaign, only if the British thought the colonies were united. To accomplish this, he suggested that George Washington should command the Continental Forces.
