Answer: The correct statements are :

a. Ag is gaining electrons. Zn is getting oxidized.

b.  Electrons travel toward the Ag half-cell.

c.  Ag is getting reduced.

d. Electrons travel away from the Zn half-cell.

Explanation:

Galvanic cell is a device which is used for the conversion of the chemical energy produces in a redox reaction into the electrical energy.

The standard reduction potential for zinc (Zn) and silver (Ag) are as follows:

E^0_{Zn^{2+}/Zn}=-0.76V

E^0_{Ag^{+}/Ag}=+0.80V

Reduction takes place easily if the standard reduction potential is higher (positive) and oxidation takes place easily if the standard reduction potential is less (more negative).

Here Zn undergoes oxidation by loss of electrons, thus act as anode. Silver undergoes reduction by gain of electrons and thus act as cathode. Thus the electrons will travel from Zn half cell to Ag half cell.

Anode : Zn\rightarrow Zn^{2+}+2e^-

Cathode: Ag^++e^-\rightarrow Ag

The correct statements are :

a. Ag is gaining electrons. Zn is getting oxidized.

b.  Electrons travel toward the Ag half-cell.

c.  Ag is getting reduced.

d. Electrons travel away from the Zn half-cell.

What type of chemical reaction is AgNO3(aq)+KCL(aq) AgCL(s)+KNO3(aq)
emmasim [6.3K]

Answer:

double replacement reaction or double displacement reaction,

Explanation:

double replacement reaction, double displacement reaction, is a chemical process involving the exchange of bonds between two non-reacting chemical species which results in the creation of products with similar or identical bonding affiliations

Classically, these reactions result in the precipitation of one product.

in thía case it is AgCl

I NEED HELP PLS! Do the fossil finds in Antarctica support Wegener’s continental drift hypothesis? Explain your answer using exa
romanna [79]

Answer:

There are many examples of fossils found on separate continents and nowhere else, suggesting the continents were once joined. If Continental Drift had not occurred, the alternative explanations would be: The species evolved independently on separate continents – contradicting Darwin's theory of evolution.

hope this helps you ☺️☺️

Having difficulty understanding formulas involved. Determine the quantity (g) of pure CaCl2 in 7.5 g of CaCl2•9H2O.
Luda [366]
To determine the quantity of pure CaCl2 from the given amount of CaCl2.9H2O, we use the ratio of CaCl2 to CaCl2.9H2O. From the formula the ratio would 1 is to 1 We calculate as follows:

7.5 g CaCl2.9H2O (1 mol / 273.1215 g) ( 1 mol CaCl2 / 1 mol CaCl2.9H2O ) ( <span>110.98 g / 1 mol ) = 3.05 g CaCl2
