Answer: The B.A.C can rise significantly within 20 minutes after having a drink.

Explanation:

  • When a person drinks an alcohol based drink, about 20 percent of the alcohol absorption takes place in the stomach and 80 percent absorption is in the small intestine. Fast absorption of the alcohol depends upon the three factors: concentration of alcohol in the beverage, the typeof drink & whether the stomach is full or empty.
  • After the alcohol is absorbed, it goes into bloodstream and dissolves in the fluid of blood. Then , Throughout the body whole blood is carried. The alcohol from then enters and gets dissolved in each tissue of the body except the fatty tissue.Once it is inside the body alcohol exerts its effects on the body.
  • Once absorbed by the bloodstream the alcohol leaves the body in the three ways: elimination of alcohol by kidney i.e.5 % of alcohol in urine, 5 % exhalation of alcohol performed by lungs, breaking down of remnant alcohol by liver into acetic acid.

*B.A.C also known as Blood Alcohol Concentration refers to the percent of alcohol into the blood stream.A BAC of 10% means that an individual's blood supply consists of one part alcohol for every thousand parts blood. In California, a person is legally intoxicated if he have BAC of .08% or higher.
