Tip: A convex lens is thicker at the centre than at the edges.

When light goes through a concave lens, the light that goes through that lens spreads out more due to the structure of the surface of the lens. A concave lens does not form a focal point at the opposing side of the lens. Instead, it spreads out, doing the exact opposite of what a convex lens does. In the picture, we see a lens where the light goes through and unifies at the opposing side, which is what a convex lens does. So, the lens in that image is a convex lens.

3. What type of lens is this?

<u>Answer: Convex</u>

A bowling ball has a momentum of 12 units when it hits a bowling pin, with a momentum of 0 units. After hitting the bowling pin,
BARSIC [14]

<u>MOMENTUM IS CONSERVED</u>  (law of Nature)

That means that momentum can move from one object to another object, but it's never created or destroyed.  The amount of momentum AFTER something is the same as it was BEFORE.

<u></u>

<u>Before:</u>

(ball momentum = 12), (pin momentum = 0)

Ball + Pin = 12 unts

<u></u>

<u>After:</u>

Momentum is conserved.

Ball + Pin still has to be 12 units

Ball = 8 units

So Pin has to be the other <em>4 units</em>.

In the photoelectric effect, a photon with an energy of 5.3 × 10–19 J strikes an electron in a metal. Of this energy, 3.6 × 10–1
valentina_108 [34]

Answer:

The velocity of the photo electron is 6.11\times 10^5\ m/s.

Explanation:

Given that,

Supplied energy, E_s=5.3\times 10^{-19}\ J

Minimum energy of the electron to escape from the metal, E_e=3.6\times 10^{-19}\ J

We need to find the velocity of the photo electron. The energy supplied by the photon is equal to the sum of minimum escape energy and the kinetic energy of the escaping electron. So,

5.3\times 10^{-19}\ J=3.6\times 10^{-19}\ J+K\\\\K=5.3\times 10^{-19}-3.6\times 10^{-19}\\\\K=1.7\times 10^{-19}\ J

The formula of kinetic energy is given by :

K=\dfrac{1}{2}mv^2\\\\v=\sqrt{\dfrac{2K}{m}} \\\\v=\sqrt{\dfrac{2\times 1.7\times 10^{-19}}{9.1\times 10^{-31}}} \\\\v=6.11\times 10^5\ m/s

So, the velocity of the photo electron is 6.11\times 10^5\ m/s.

A physicist wants to estimate the rate of emissions of alpha particles from a certain source. He counts 400 emissions in 80 seco
lyudmila [28]

Answer:

Emissions per second = 0.36

Explanation:

Please find the attached question

Solution

Given

Let X be the rate of background emission.

X = B/t

Where B = 36

And t = 100

X = 36/100 = 0.36

A scientist is examining an unknown solid. Which procedure would most likely help determine a chemical property of the substance
Tamiku [17]
A good way to determine the property of a substance would be it's boiling and melting point, its conductivity, and how hard or soft that substance is.
