Red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and plasma are considered the four main parts of human blood.

Plasma is the liquid component of the blood and in plasma, there are found fat, protein, salts, sugar, and water. The function of the plasma is to transport blood cells through the body with all nutrients, waste products, clotting proteins, antibodies, and more.

Red blood cells or also called erythrocytes have a function to contain a special protein that is called hemoglobin and it is helping with carrying oxygen from the lungs to the body and then it returns carbon dioxide from the body to the lungs and that process is called exhalation.

White blood cells or also called leukocytes have the ability to protect the body from infections.

Platelets or also called thrombocytes are small fragments of the cells. They are helping blood in clotting procces.

5. Why is it important to know the terms related to the cardiovascular, blood and lymphatic, respiratory system, urinary systems
sammy [17]
1. If you work as a health professional or related to administrative branch of the medical field, understanding such terms are of upmost importance as you will encounter such terms in everyday work. If you work in the administrative side such as a cashier or a bill coder, then understanding these terms will help in the preparation of medical bills or documents for the patient as each organ system or disease have specific codes (ICD or CPT); and if the patient asks you questions about those terms, then you can easily answer it.

2. Understanding word parts will help you identify medical terms (i.e. cardio/logy - cardio- means heart and logos means the study of, or sarcoma - sarco- means fleshy and -oma means new growth). Having this knowledge is helpful in deducing terms that you don't have full knowledge of. This is important if you work in medical documentation or in medical records.
