In the second equation you are given what Y equals, which is (-5x - 3). You would use this equation and plug it into the y value given in the first equation where it says 2y and solve

That would be

3x - 2(-5x - 3) = -6
3x + 10x + 6 = -6
3x + 10x = -6 - 6
13x = -12
X = -12/13

Then if you want to solve for Y you can use any equation and plug in the x-value found.

I’m going to use equation 2.

Y = -5x - 3
Y = -5(-12/13) - 3
Y = 4.615 - 3
Y = 1.615

(-12/13, 1.615)

Therefore the x-value is -12/13 and the y-value is 1.615.

Which of the following must describe a irrational number? A. a number with a repeating or terminating decimal expansion B. a num
Olenka [21]

Answer:

D.

Step-by-step explanation:

A irrational number can be defined as those numbers which are real but can NOT be expressed in simple fractions. The term 'irrational' means 'a number which can not be expressed in ratio of two integers', 'no ratio.'

<u>When a irrational number is expressed in decimal, the numbers keep on expanding without repeating andd without terminating, which means it keeps on expanding infinitely.</u>

For example, π (pi) is an irrational number. When it is expressed in decimals it keeps on expanding non-repeatedly and unendingly.

Another example of an irrational number is √2.

Thus the correct statement that defines irrational number is option D.

You're conducting a significance test for H0 : p = .35, Ha : p &lt; .35. In a sample of size 40, you identify a count of 11 succ
nordsb [41]

Answer: c. –1 and .1587

Step-by-step explanation:

As per given , we have

Null hypothesis : H_0 : p= 0.35

Alternative hypothesis :  H_1 : p< 0.35

Since Alternative hypothesis is left-tailed ,so the test must be a left tailed test .

Z -Test statistic for proportion = z=\dfrac{\hat{p}-p}{\sqrt{\dfrac{p(1-p)}{n}}}

, where p= population proportion

\hat{p} = sample proportions

n= Sample size.

Let x be the number of successes.

For n= 40 and x= 11

\hat{p}=\dfrac{x}{n}=\dfrac{11}{40}=0.275

Then ,  z=\dfrac{0.275-0.35}{\sqrt{\dfrac{0.35(1-0.35)}{40}}}

z=\dfrac{-0.075}{\sqrt{0.0056875}}

z=\dfrac{-0.075}{0.075415515645}

z=-0.99449031619\approx-1

By using z-table ,

P-value for left-tailed test = P(z<-1)= 1-P(z<1)    [∵ P(Z<-z)= 1-P(Z<z) ]

= 1-0.8413

=0.1587

Hence, the -score and P-value are  <u>–1 and 0.1587</u> .

So the correct option is c. –1 and .1587

Jeannie is an experienced business traveler, often traveling back and forth from San Francisco to the East Coast several times p
lesya692 [45]

Answer:

The probability that Jeannie will miss her flight because her total time for catching her plane exceeds one hour is 0.0026.

Jeannie should leave her office 55 minutes early.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let <em>X</em> = time it requires Jeannie to catch her plane.

The random variable <em>X</em> is normally distributed, N(46, 5).

Compute the probability that Jeannie will miss her flight because her total time for catching her plane exceeds one hour as follows:

P(X>60)=P(\frac{X-\mu}{\sigma} >\frac{60-46}{5} )\\=P(Z>2.8)\\=1-P(Z

The probability that Jeannie will miss her flight because her total time for catching her plane exceeds one hour is 0.0026.

Now, it is provided that Jeannie has 96% chance of catching her flight if she reaches under <em>x</em> minutes.

That is, P (X < x) = 0.96.

Compute the value of <em>x</em> as follows:

P(X

**Use the <em>z</em>-table to compute the value of <em>z</em>.

The value of <em>z</em> is 1.751.

Compute the value of <em>x</em> as follows:

z=\frac{x-46}{5}\\ 1.751=\frac{x-46}{5}\\x=46+(1.751\times5)\\=54.755\\\approx 55

Thus, Jeannie should leave her office 55 minutes early.
