The focus of Lesson 1 is Newton's first law of motion - sometimes referred to as the law of inertia. An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. Hope this helps :)

Gold, which has a mass of 19.32 g for each cubic centimeter of volume, is the most ductile metal and can be pressed into a thin
Dennis_Churaev [7]

Answer:

area = 5733.33  cm²

length = 5.47 ×10^{7} cm

Explanation:

Given data

density = 19.32 g/cm³

mass = 33.16 g

thickness = 3.000 µm = 3 ×10^{-4} cm

radius r = 1.000 µm = 1 ×10^{-4} cm

to find out

area of the leaf and  length of the fiber

solution

we know volume formula that is

volume = mass / density

volume = 33.16 /  19.32

volume = 1.72 cm³

we know that volume = thickness × area

so area

area = volume / thickness

area = 1.72 / 3 ×10^{-4}

area = 5733.33  cm²

and

we know volume = πr²L

so L = volume /  πr²

length = 1.72 / π(1×10^{-4})²

length = 5.47 ×10^{7} cm

steel wire 8m long and 4mm in diameter is fixed to two rigid b. [1] supports. Calculate the increase in tension when the tempera
marin [14]

Answer:

301.6 N

Explanation:

The length of the wire L₀ = 8 m and its diameter, d = 4 mm = 4 × 10⁻³ m. Since its temperature drops by  10°C, it will have a change in length ΔL = L₀αΔθ where α = linear expansivity of steel, a 12 × 10⁻⁶ /K, and Δθ = temperature change = -10°C = -10 K(negative since it is a drop)

So, the strain, ε = ΔL/L₀ = αΔθ = 12 × 10⁻⁶ /K × 10 K = 12 × 10⁻⁵

Now the Young's modulus of steel, Y = σ/ε where σ = stress = T/A where T = increase in tension in steel wire and A = cross-sectional area of wire = πd²/4 where d = diameter of wire = 4 × 10⁻³ m and ε = strain = 12 × 10⁻⁵

So, σ = Yε

Since Y = 2 × 10¹¹ N/m².

Substituting the values of the variables into the equation, we have

σ = Yε

σ = 2 × 10¹¹ N/m² × 12 × 10⁻⁵

σ = 24 × 10⁶ N/m²

Since σ = T/A

T = σA

T = σπd²/4

Substituting the values of the variables into the equation, we have

T = σπd²/4

T = 24 × 10⁶ N/m² × π × (4 × 10⁻³ m)²/4

T = 24 × 10⁶ N/m² × π × 16 × 10⁻⁶ m²/4

T = 24 × 10⁶ N/m² × π × 4 × 10⁻⁶ m²

T = 96 N × π

T = 301.59 N

T ≅ 301.6 N

So, the increase in tension in the steel wire is 301.6 N

Find the transformation matrix that rotates a rectangular coordinate system through an angle of 60 about axes equal angels with
RSB [31]

Answer:

  M = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}cos \ 60&0\\0&-sin \ 60\end{array}\right]

Explanation:

To find the matrix, let's decompose the vectors, the rotated angle is (-60C) for the prime system

          x ’= x cos (-60)

          y ’= y sin (-60)

we use

          cos 60 = cos (-60)

          sin 60 = - sin (-60)

we substitute

          x ’= x cos 60

          y ’= - y sin 60

the transformation system is

         \left[\begin{array}{ccc}x'\\y'\end{array}\right] = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}cos 60&0\\0&-sin60\end{array}\right] \ \left[\begin{array}{ccc}x\\y\end{array}\right]x '

the transformation matrix is

       M = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}cos \ 60&0\\0&-sin \ 60\end{array}\right]

Se the IUPAC nomenclature rules to give the name for this compound - CaS.
Anna11 [10]

Answer:

Calcium sulphide

Explanation:

If we look at the compound, we will discover that it is an ionic compound. The compound is comprised of Ca^2+ and S^2-.

The cation Ca^2+ is the calcium ion while the anion S^2- is the sulphide ion hence the compound is rightly named calcium sulphide.
