<u><em>CAUSAS:</em></u>

-El gobierno de chile ha destinado el 2% de sus recursos de salud pública para tratar los problemas de salud mental,lo cual es insuficiente debido a la alta demanda de pacientes que requieren atención especializada. Según la OMS (organización mundial de la salud) , cada gobierno debería destinar al menos el 5% de sus recursos para tratar este tipo de patologías o enfermedades mentales como la depresión,la ansiedad u otros trastornos bipolares

- El personal capacitado para tratar este tipo de enfermedades es muy escaso.

- Muchos de los chilenos que padecen este tipo de enfermedades no buscan ayuda inmediata, algunos recurren al alcohol o a los vicios como el cigarrillo o la marihuana , pensando que lograrán calmar la ansiedad o sus preocupaciones pero en realidad sucede lo contrario, aumentan   la depresión y la ansiedad.

-Los problemas sociales, la crisis económica y el aumento de la pobreza así como el limitado acceso que tiene la población pobre chilena a un buen sistema de salud integrado,genera un significativo aumento de problemas de salud mental  en especial en la población pobre o más desfavorecida del país.

Debido a los problemas de salud mental las incapacidades laborales han aumentado, afectando  la economía  del país.

Debido a la falta de tratamiento ,el suicidio y otras enfermedades como la esquizofrenia han aumentado. De igual manera la violencia intrafamiliar se ha incrementado e inclusive hasta los niños están empezando a sufrir este tipo de trastornos o enfermedades mentales,lo cual está afectando su desempeño escolar.
