Step 1: Find a common denominator

---The common denominator here is 24. So, we need to transform all of the fractions to have a denominator of 24.

1/24m - 16/24 = 18/24

Step 2: Solve

1/24m - 16/24 = 18/24

1/24m = 34/24

m = 34/24 x 24/1

m = 34

Hope this helps!

Answer:

{ \tt{ \frac{1}{24} m -  \frac{2}{3}  =  \frac{3}{4} }} \\  \\ { \tt{ \frac{1}{24} m =  \frac{17}{12} }} \\ m = 34

The sum of the first 5 terms of an AP is 30 and the sum of the four term from T6 to T9 (inclusive) is 69. Find the AP
Ainat [17]

Answer: The AP = 1, ⁷/₂, 6, ¹⁷/₂, 11 ..............

Step-by-step explanation:

From the first statement,

S₅ = ⁵/₂(2a + ( n - 1 )d }    = 30

       5(2a  + 4d )d           = 60

       10a    + 20d             = 60

reduce to lowest term to easy calculation by dividing through by 10

                      a + 2d       = 6 -----------------------------------1

second statement

sum of the next 4 terms inclusive

T₉  = ⁹/₂(2a + 8d )   = 69

        9(2a  + 8d )    = 30 + 69

            18a + 72d   = 99 x 2

            18a + 72d   = 198

divide through by 18 to reduce to lowest time

                a  + 4d    = 11 ------------------------------------------2

Now solve the two equation simultaneously to find a and d

                 a + 2d = 6

                 a + 4d = 11

                     -2d  = -5

                          d = ⁵/₂.

Now substitute  for d to get a

               a  + 2(⁵/₂) = 6

                a + 5       = 6

                           a   = 6 - 5

                            a = 1.

Therefore the AP = 1 , ⁷/₂ , 6 , ¹⁷/₂ , 11 , ..............

Write equations for the horizontal and vertical lines passing through the point (8,5)
almond37 [142]

Answers:

Horizontal Line:  y = 5

Vertical Line:  x = 8

=================================================

Explanation:

All horizontal lines are of the form y = k, for some constant k. We want the horizontal line to pass through (8,5), meaning every point on this horizontal line must have y coordinate 5. Therefore, y = 5 is the equation of the horizontal line. Two such points on this line are (1, 5) and (8, 5). All that matters is the y coordinate is 5. The x coordinate can be anything you want. The slope of any horizontal line is 0.

Flipping things around, all vertical lines will have the x coordinate of each point be the same value. Draw a vertical line through (8,5) and note how each point has x coordinate of 8. Two such points are (8,1) and (8,5). Therefore, the equation of the vertical line is x = 8. The y coordinate can be any value you want. The slope of any vertical line is undefined. Unlike the horizontal line, we cannot write this equation in slope intercept form (namely because the slope isn't defined).

If you estimate 342 divided by 7 by using 350 divided by 7 and it equal 50 is it greater than or less than the exact number ?is
Ghella [55]
This is underestimated because 342 is less than 350 and since it is been divided by the same numbers the answer is underestimated.

CALLING ALL MATH GENIUS!!! Help! Please!
IrinaK [193]

2) 7/8+1/3+1/2=1\frac{17}{24}, so your answer is A

3) 1/9+1/12, it's LCD (lest common denominator) is 36, \frac{1*4}{9*4} + \frac{1*3}{12*3} = \frac{4}{36} + \frac{3}{36} = \frac{4+3}{36} = \frac{7}{36} so your answer is also A

4) 13+\frac{1}{4} +\frac{2}{3} find the Least Common Multiple (LCM) of

4, and 3, which is 12. Now make the denominators the same as the LCD, 13+\frac{1*3}{4*3} +\frac{2*4}{3*4}. Now Simplify; 13+\frac{3}{12} +\frac{8}{12} =13+\frac{3+8}{12} =13\frac{11}{12}, D is your answer.

5) LCD=9, so make the denominators the same as the LCD, \frac{4}{9} - \frac{1*3}{3*3} = \frac{4}{9} - \frac{3}{9} = \frac{4-3}{9} =\frac{1}{9}. Your answer is B.

6) 30-22\frac{5}{6}, (use.the.rule...a\frac{b}{c}=\frac{ac+b}{c}...because.22\frac{5}{6}.is.an.improper.fraction)

30-\frac{22*6+5}{6} =30-\frac{132+5}{6}=30-\frac{137}{6} = make the denominators the same 30*\frac{6}{6} -\frac{137}{6} =\frac{180}{6} -\frac{137}{6} =\frac{43}{6} =7\frac{1}{6}

7) 9\frac{5}{12} is an improper fraction, so you the previous rule I said to use for improper fractions.

\frac{9*12+5}{12} -4\frac{2}{3} =\frac{108+5}{12}-4\frac{2}{3}, also 4\frac{2}{3} is an improper fraction so use the rule again.

\frac{113}{12} -\frac{12+2}{3} =\frac{113}{12} -\frac{14}{3}, LCD=12

Make the denominators the same \frac{113}{12}-\frac{14*4}{3*4}=\frac{113}{12}-\frac{56}{12} =\frac{113-56}{12} =\frac{57}{12}=\frac{19}{4}=4\frac{3}{4}, the answer is D

8) 21\frac{7}{9}, improper fraction

\frac{21+19+7}{19} -6\frac{8}{19} =\frac{399+7}{19} -6\frac{8}{19} = \frac{406}{19} -6\frac{8}{19}

6\frac{8}{19} is an improper faction

\frac{406}{19}-\frac{6*19+8}{19}  =\frac{406}{19} -\frac{114+8}{19} =\frac{406}{19} -\frac{122}{19} =\frac{406-122}{19}=\frac{284}{19}=14\frac{18}{19}, the answer is B.

9) \frac{8}{9} -\frac{6}{9} =\frac{2}{9}, You're trying to see how much farther he ran on Monday compared to Wednesday, so Monday goes first.

10) \frac{3}{4} -\frac{1}{8} =\frac{5}{8}, You're trying to see how much more you need, so you need to subtract 1/8 (what you already have) and 3/4 to see how much you need left.

11) You're tyring to see how much she need all together, so you're looking for the sum, which is 12\frac{3}{8}, so the answer is C.

12) You're seeing how much he grew over the past years, so you'll be looking for the sum (addition) 1\frac{3}{4}+ 2\frac{2}{3} =4\frac{5}{12}

19) In this problen, Claude used some of his ribbon, which in turn decreased the amount he has left, so you are looking for the difference (In this case, what he has now, vs what he originally had.) 5\frac{1}{2} -4\frac{2}{3}= \frac{5}{6}, your answer is C.

20) Find the time it takes in all the routes by subtracting the time you leave to the time you get there, the answer is route four because it is 2 hours and 5 minutes.

Hope this helps, have a BLESSED and wonderful day, as well as a safe one!

V = 128 – 32t
tamaranim1 [39]

Answer: The Y intercept is 128 as well, which is the original velocity. Technically it should be v - intercept but whatever. The y  / v intercept is the original velocity. The X intercept should be the t intercept but again whatever. The x/t intercept is 4, meaning that the velocity is zero when t is 4

Step-by-step explanation: y/v intercept is when t = 0. v = 128 - 32(0) = 128

It is the initial velocity at t = 0. The X/t intercept is when v = 0. 0 = 128 - 32t, so 32t = 128, so t = 4. The x intercept means when the velocity is zero, which means that the ball is at its highest/farthest point.
