Complete the equation of the line through (-8-2) and (-4-6)

Mathematics

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

since you are given two points use the point- slope formula and the slope formula

y-y1 = m( x -x1)   and  m = y2 -y1 / x2 - x1

find the slope m, 1st

p1 = (x1,y1)  given (-8,-2)

p2 = (x2,y2) given (-4,-6)

m = -6-(-2) / -4-(-8)

m = -6+2 / -4+8

m = -4 / 4

m = -1  :)

now use the slope you just found and the point-slope with either given point.. pick one.. which ever seems easier... they seem about the same to me

y - (-8) = -1(x-(-2))

y+8 = -1(x+2)

y+8 = -x-2

y = -x-2-8

y= -x-10

and your done :)

Find the midpoint of the line segment JK if j (4,6) and k(0,-4)
Snowcat [4.5K]

Answer:

(2,1)

General Formulas and Concepts:

Order of Operations: BPEMDAS

Midpoint Formula: (\frac{x_1+x_2}{2},\frac{y_1+y_2}{2})

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Step 1: Define points</u>

J (4, 6)

K (0, -4)

<u>Step 2: Find midpoint</u>

  1. Substitute:                         (\frac{4+0}{2},\frac{6-4}{2})
  2. Add/Subtract:                    (\frac{4}{2},\frac{2}{2})
  3. Divide:                               (2,1)

A phone company charges $0.06 per minute for local calls and $0.15 per minute for international calls. When your bill comes, it
solmaris [256]
Let's assume two variables x and y which represent the local and international calls respectively.

x + y = 852 = total number of minutes which were consumed by the company (equation 1)
0.06*x+ 0.15 y =69.84 = total price which was charged for the phone calls (Equation 2)
 from equation 1:-
x=852 -y (sub in equation 2)
0.06 (852 - y) + 0.15 y =69.84

51.12 -0.06 y +0.15 y =69.84 (subtracting both sides by 51.12)
0.09 y =18.74
y= 208 minutes = international minutes (sub in 1)
208+x=852 (By subtracting both sides by 208)
x = 852-208 = 644 minutes = local minutes

<B = 180 - (<A + C)
6x + 4 = 180 - 2(73)
6x + 4 = 180 - 146
6x + 4 = 34
6x = 30

I don’t know how to solve this it’s exponents.
matrenka [14]

Answer:

9^6

Step-by-step explanation:

When dividing exponents with the same base, we subtract the exponents

a^b/ a^c = a^(b-c)

9^11/9^5 = 9^(11-5)

              = 9^6
