Answer:

Yes, it is balanced because the number of atoms of each element was same for both reactant side and product side.

Explanation:

Atoms of elements combine with one another to form compounds in a process called chemical reactions. In this case, atoms of Aluminum (Al) combines with atoms of Oxygen (O) to form Aluminum oxide (Al2O3).

However, for a chemical reaction to obey the law of conservation of mass, it needs to be BALANCED. Being balanced, for a chemical reaction, means the number of atoms of each element on the reactant side must equal the ones on the product side. To do this, coefficients are used at the back of each elements.

The original equation looks like:

AI + O2 → AI2O3

To make this balanced, coefficients 4 and 3 were used at the back of Al and O2 respectively while coefficient 2 was used behind Al2O3 as follows:

4AI+3O2 → 2AI2O3

Hence, the equation provided in this question is already balanced because the number of atoms of each element was same for both reactant side and product side.

PH of 0,035M HCl? How to count if your calculator hasn't got -lg?
IrinaK [193]

Given information:

Concentration of HCl = 0.035 M

To determine:

pH of the solution

Explanation:

Hydrochloric acid, HCl is a strong acid. It will completely dissociate to give H+ and Cl- ions

HCl → H+ + Cl-

Hence the concentration of H+ = Cl- = 0.035M

Now, pH measures the strength of H+ ions in a given solution. It is expressed as:

pH = -log[H+]

pH (HCl) = -log(0.035) = 1.46

Ans: pH of 0.035M HCl is 1.46

A compound is 80.0% carbon and 20.0% hydrogen by mass. assume you have a 100.-g sample of this compound. the molar mass of the c
ch4aika [34]
Basis of the calculation: 100g

For Carbon:
Mass of carbon = (100 g)(0.80) = 80 g
  Number of moles of carbon = (80 g)(1 mole / 12g) = 20/3

For Hydrogen:
  Mass of hydrogen = (100 g)(0.20) = 20 g
     Number of moles of hydrogen = (20 g)(1 mole / 1 g) = 20

Translating the answer to the formula of the substance,
     C20/3H20

Dividing the answer,
    CH3

The molar mass of the empirical formula is:
    12 + 3 = 15 g/mol

Since, the molar mass given for the molecular formula is 30.069 g/mol, the molecular equation is,
    C2H6

ANSWER: C2H6
