Which of the following explains why the lab safety policy specifically addresses loose clothing, contact lenses, and large, loos
valentina_108 [34]

Answer:

b. Loose clothing and jewelry is more likely to impede movement, or accidentally knock materials over, causing a spill or other accident.

Explanation:

Hello,

During the laboratories, a high dexterity is required, thus, such accessories,  when you move or change your duty, could touch other materials or act out of your control resulting in spillages and constricting your proper movements and skills, that is why considering the lab safety policy, we must take those artifacts away from the chemistry lab.

Best regards.

Write a balanced chemical equation, including physical state symbols, for the combustion of gaseous butane into gaseous carbon d
Phantasy [73]

Answer:1.

1.Balanced equation

C4H10 + 9 02 ==> 5H20 +4CO2

2. Volume of CO2 =596L

Explanation:

1.Combustion of alkane is the reaction of alkanes with Oxygen. And the general equation for the combustion is;

CxHy +( x+y/4) O2 ==> y/2 02 + xCO2

Where x and y are number of carbon and hydrogen atoms respectively.

For butane (C4H10)

x=4 and y=10

Therefore

C4H10 + 9 02 ==> 5H20 +4CO2

2. Mass of butane = 0.360kg

Molar mass of C4H10 = ( 12×4 + 1×10)

= 48 +10=58g/mol= 0.058kg/mol

Mole = mass/molar mass

Mole = 0.360/0.058= 6.2moles

From the stoichiometric equation

1mole of C4H10 will gives 4moles of CO2

Therefore

6.2moles of C4H10 will gives 4 moles of 24.8 moles of CO2

Using the ideal gas equation

PV=nRT

P= 1.0atm

V=?

n= 24.8mol.

R=0.08206atmL/molK

T=20+273=293

V= 24.8 × 0.08206 × 293

V= 596L

Therefore the volume of CO2 produced is 596L

The vapor pressure of pure benzene is 750.0 torr and the vapor pressure of toluene is 300.0 torr at a certain temperature. You m
kow [346]

Answer:

Mole fraction of benzene in pure solution is 0.4472

Explanation:

Vapor pressure of pure benzene= 750 torr

Vapor pressure of pure toulene= 300 torr

Mole fraction of benzene in vapor= 0.669

1/P=Xa/Pa+ Xb/Pb

Where

Xa = mole fraction of A in water

Xb = mole fraction of B in water

P= Total pressure

Pa= total vapor pressure of pure A

Pb = total vapor pressure of pure B

Xa+Xb=1

Let A be benzene and B be toulene

We have Xa=0.669 and Xb= 0.331

1/P= 0.669/750 + 0.331/300

1/P= 0.000892/torr + 0.001103/torr

1/P=0.001995/torr

P= 501.25torr

We have P= Pa+ Pb

Where Pa= XaPa0

And Pb=XbPb0

Where

Xa= mole fraction of A in solution

Xb= mole fraction of B in solution

Now, substitute the data into the formula

501.25torr=Xa750torr + (1- Xa) 300 torr

Xa450torr + 300torr

Xa(450torr)= 201.25torr

Xa= 0.4472

Therefore, mole fraction of benzene in pure solution is 0.4472
