Answer:

P(x) = (\frac{2}{5})x(x + 3)(x - 1)²

Step-by-step explanation:

Given - The polynomial of degree 4, P(x) has a root of multiplicity 2 at x=1 and roots of multiplicity 1 at x=0 and x=-3. It goes through the point (5,256)

To find - Formula for P(x) ?

Proof -

Given that,

P(x) has a root of multiplicity 2 at x=1

So,

(x - 1)² is a factor.

Now,

Given that, there is roots of multiplicity 1 at x=0 and x=-3

So,

(x - 0) and ( x - (-3) are also factor

So,

P(x) can be written as

P(x) = Ax(x + 3)(x - 1)²           .........(1)

where A is a constant.

Now,

Given that, It goes through the point (5,256)

⇒At x = 5, P(x) = 256

So,

Put the values of x and P(x) in equation (1), we get

P(x) = Ax(x + 3)(x - 1)²

⇒256 = A(5)(5 + 3)(5 - 1)²

⇒256 = 5A(8)(4)²

⇒256 = 40A(16)

⇒256 = 640 A

⇒A = \frac{256}{640} = \frac{2}{5}

∴ we get

P(x) = (\frac{2}{5})x(x + 3)(x - 1)²

Inessa [10]

I assume you mean the product of mixed numbers,

3 1/2 × 3 1/2

If we write this as

(3 + 1/2) × (3 + 1/2) = (3 + 1/2)²

we can use the identity

(a + b)² = a² + 2ab + b²

so that

3 1/2 × 3 1/2 = 3² + (2 × 3 × 1/2) + (1/2)²

3 1/2 × 3 1/2 = 9 + 3 + 1/4

3 1/2 × 3 1/2 = 12 1/4

Alternatively, we can first write 3 1/2 as a mixed number:

3 + 1/2 = 6/2 + 1/2 = (6 + 1)/2 = 7/2

Then

3 1/2 × 3 1/2 = 7/2 × 7/2 = (7 × 7) / (2 × 2) = 49/4

and

49/4 = (48 + 1)/4 = ((4 × 12) + 1)/4 = 12 + 1/4

Hello!

∠GCE = 14° (corresponding angles)
∠GEC = 180° - 78° - 14° (sum of angles in a triangle)
∠GEC = 88°
4x + 88° = 180°
4x = 180° - 88°
4x = 92°
x = 23°

Answer: 12.5

Step-by-step explanation:

x/10 = 10/8

reduce the fraction with 2

x/10=5/4

simplify the equation using cross-multiplication

4x=50

divide both sides by 4

x=25/2

or

x=12.5
