Answer:

u = - 20 cm

m =\frac{1}{5}

Given:

Radius of curvature, R = 10 cm

image distance, v = 4 cm

Solution:

Focal length of the convex mirror, f:

f = \frac{R}{2} = \frac{10}{2} = 5 cm

Using Lens' maker formula:

\frac{1}{f} = \frac{1}{u} + \frac{1}{v}

Substitute the given values in the above formula:

\frac{1}{5} = \frac{1}{u} + \frac{1}{4}

\frac{1}{u} = \frac{1}{5} - \frac{1}{4}

u = - 20 cm

where

u = object distance

Now, magnification is the ratio of image distance to the object distance:

magnification, m =\frac{|v|}{|u|}

magnification, m =\frac{|4|}{|-20|}

m =\frac{4}{20}

m =\frac{1}{5}

The difference in weight is due to the displacement of water (the buoyancy of water is acting on the athlete thus giving her smaller weight).<span>

The amount of weight displaced or the amount of buoyant force is: </span>

Fb = 690 N - 48 N

Fb = 642 N

From newtons law, F = m*g. Using this formula, we can calculate for the mass of water displaced:

m of water displaced = 642N / 9.8m/s^2

m of water displaced = 65.5 kg

Assuming a water density of 1 kg/L, and using the formula volume = mass/density:

V of water displaced = 65.5kg / 1kg/L = 65.5 L

The volume of water displaced is equal to the volume of athlete. Therefore:

V of athlete = 65.5 L

The mass of athlete can also be calculated using, F = m*g

m of athlete = 690 N/ 9.8m/s^2

m of athlete = 70.41 kg

Knowing the volume and mass of athlete, her average density is therefore:

average density = 70.41 kg / 65.5 L

<span>average density = 1.07 kg/L = 1.07 g/mL</span>

Which device converts electrical energy into kinetic energy?
andriy [413]
<h3><u>Answer;</u></h3>

<em>Electric motor</em>

<h3><u>Explanation;</u></h3>
  • <em><u>Energy</u></em> is the ability to do work. According to the law of conservation of energy,<em><u> energy can not be created nor destroyed but can be changed from one form to another</u></em>.
  • Changing energy from one form to another is done by devices we call <em><u>transducers. These are elements that convert energy from one form to another.</u></em>
  • In this case, electrical motor is an example of a transducer that converts electrical energy to kinetic energy. <em><u>Electrical energy is supplied to a the motor which converts it to rotational energy or mechanical energy then to kinetic energy.</u></em>
