A car park has no parking spaces on the first floor. The second floor has double the amount of spaces on the first floor. The th

ird floor has 3 more spaces than the second. The total number of spaces is 428. Use an algebraic method to work out the number of parking spaces on the first floor.

Answer:

85 parking spaces

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that :

Parking spaces on floors :

Let first floor = x

Second floor = 2x

Third floor = 2x + 3

Total parking spaces = 428

THEREFORE ;

x + 2x + 2x + 3 = 428

5x + 3 = 428

5x = 428 - 3

5x = 425

x = 425 / 5

x = 85

Hence, there are 85 parking spaces on the first floor

A road has a 10% grade, meaning increasing 1 unit of rise to every 10 units of run.
fenix001 [56]

The grade is the ratio of rise to run, i.e. the slope aka the tangent.

\tan \theta = \dfrac{1}{10}

\theta = \arctan 0.1 \approx 5.711^\circ

Answer: (a) 6 degrees

For part b, the road is the hypotenuse c of a right triangle whose tangent of the small angle is 1/10.    The height h or rise is the side opposite the small angle.

\sin\theta = \dfrac h c

h = c \sin \theta

We could just take the sine of the angle we got but let's get it from the tangent exactly.

\cos^2 \theta + \sin ^2 \theta = 1

Dividing by squared cosine

1 + \tan ^2 \theta = 1/\cos^2 \theta = 1/(1- \sin^2 \theta)

(1- \sin^2 \theta) = 1/(1 + \tan^2 \theta)

\sin^2 \theta = 1 - 1/(1 + \tan^2 \theta)

\sin^2 \theta = 1 - 1/(1 + (1/10)^2) = 1-1/(101/100) = 1/101

h = c \sin \theta = 2 \sqrt{1/101} \approx 0.199

Answer: (b) Rise of 0.199 km

I need to know how to solve these simple interest word problems step by step.
LekaFEV [45]

Answer:

$236.38

3.20%

Step-by-step explanation:

Simple interest = PNR/100 where P = Principal = 13132/-

N = 8 months = 8/12 years and r = 2.7%

Hence simple interest = 13132 (8/12)(2.7/100)

= 236.376

= 236.38 dollars

-----------------------------------------------------

2) On the same notation, here PNR/100 = 8546(1)(R)/100=273.47

Solving

R = 273.47(100)/8546 = 3.19999

= 3.20% apprxy.

Which chart would represent the function f(x)=-2x+6?
OLga [1]
The graph that best represents the function in this case, will be given by evaluating x in the function sometimes to build the number of points needed to describe the straight line. In this case, the graphic is shown in the attached file
 x= <span> 0 <span>1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 <span> 10
