Rewrite 13/5 as 26/10

Add the two pieces together:

26/10 + 33/10 = 59/10

Rewrite 7 meters as 70/10

Subtract the two pieces:

70/10 - 59/10 = 11/10 meter left

A line passes through the points (p, a) and (p, –a) where p and a are real numbers. If p=0, what is the y-intercept? Explain you
Vsevolod [243]
The slope of the line passing through the points A(a, b), and B(c, d), is given by
                               \displaystyle{ m=\frac{d-b}{c-a},

thus, the slope of the line through <span>points (p, a) and (p, –a) is

                               </span>\displaystyle{ m=\frac{-a-a}{p-p}=\frac{-2a}{0}.

When applying the slope formula results in division by zero, this means that the line is a vertical line.

This could have also been noticed directly, since the line contains 2 points with the same x-coordinate.

The equation of this line is x=p, since the x-coordinate is always p, no matter what y is.

If p=0, then the equation of the line is x=0, which is the y-axis itself. In this case, the y-intercept is the whole y-axis.

Answer: The whole y-axis.

Mary is making pillows for her Life Skills class. She bought 2 1/2 yards of fabric. Her total cost was $15. What was the cost pe
morpeh [17]
For 2 1/2 = (5/2) Yards, her cost was = 15
So, for 1 yard, it would be: 15 / 5/2 = 15*2/5 = 30/5 = 6

In short, Your Answer would be $6

Hope this helps!

Ashley drove 260 miles using 12 gallons of gas. At this rate, how many gallons of gas would she need to drive 286 miles?
Elena-2011 [213]

Answer:

She will need 13.2 gallons to drive 286 miles

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1

Consider the expression below;

T=G×N

where;

T-total miles traveled

G-number of miles per gallon

N=quantity of gas consumed

This can also be expressed as;

Total miles=number of miles per gallon×number of gallons

In our case;

T=260 miles

G=unknown

N=12 gallons

replacing;

260=G×12

12 G=260

G=260/12

G=21.67 miles per gallon

Step 2

Using the same expression;

T=G×N

where;

T=286 miles

G=21.67 miles per gallon

N=unknown

replacing;

286=21.67×N

21.67 N=286

N=286/21.67

N=13.2 gallons

She will need 13.2 gallons to drive 286 miles
