A group of particles is traveling in a magnetic field of unknown magnitude and direction. You observe that a proton moving at 1.

50 km/s in the +x-direction experiences a force of 2.25 \times 10^{-16} N2.25×10 −16 N in the +y-direction, and an electron moving at 4.75 km/s in the -z-direction experiences a force of 8.50 \times 10^{-16} \mathrm{N}8.50×10 −16 N in the +y-direction.
(a) What are the magnitude and direction of the magnetic field?
(b) What are the magnitude and direction of the magnetic force on an electron moving in the -y-direction at 3.20 km/s?

Answer:

a)  B = 0.9375 T  -z, b)      B = 1.54 T

Explication

a) The magnetic force is

         F = q v x B

         f = q v B sin θ

bold indicates vectors

For direction let's use the right hand rule.

If the charge is positive

the flea in the direction of velocity, toward + x

the fingers extended in the direction of B

the palm the direction of the force + and

therefore the magnetic field goes in the direction of -z

           F = q v B

           2.25 10-16 = 1.6 10-19  1.50 103 B

           B = 2.25 10-16 / 2.4 10-16

           B = 0.9375 T  -z

b) now an electron

thumb speed direction, -z

opposite side of palm force + y

therefore the direction of the magnetic field is + x

            B = F / qv

            B = 8.5 10-16 / 1.16 10-19 4.75 103

             B = 1.54 T

Some birds migrate 20,000 miles. If 1 mile equals 1.6 kilometers, calculate the distance these birds fly in kilometers.
faust18 [17]
Set up a proportion

1 mile/1.6 km = 20,000miles/x

Cross Multiply
x = (20,000) * (1.6)
x = 32,000 kilometers

How do the processes of weathering, erosion, and deposition affect the ecoregions of Texas? Give a specific example of how each
NISA [10]

Answer:

Weathering, erosion, and deposition from the terrestrial surface topography and soil characteristics. These processes, for example, have formed a variety of landforms in Texas like beaches, plateaus, mountains, and canyons as well as soil types like fertile soil, clay-rich soil, and sandy soil. The combination of topography, soil, and climatic conditions in an area defines the types of habitats that the area can support this is crucial to ecoregion classification. Ten separate ecoregions occur in Texas including 1) East Texas Pineywoods, 2) Gulf Coast Prairies and Marshes, 3) Oak Woods and Prairies, 4) Blackland Prairie, 5) cross timbers and prairies (6) Rolling Plains, (7) High Plains, (8) TransPecos, (9) South Texas Plains, (Brush Country), and (10) Edwards Plateau. Such ecoregions are named for the major types of habitats topographical features (e.g. Edwards Plateau) present in their areas. The weathering, erosion, and deposition of each of these ecoregions have an important influence.

Que es la expansión del universo?
anastassius [24]

Answer:

La expansión no es más que el incremento con el tiempo de la distancia entre cualquier par de galaxias lejanas. Se suele utilizar para representar este hecho la analogía de un globo donde hemos pintado una serie de puntos a modo de galaxias.
