The balanced reaction between NaOH and HCl is as follows
NaOH + HCl ----> NaCl + H₂O
stoichiometry of NaOH to HCl is 1:1
molar mass of NaOH is 40 g/mol
number of moles = \frac{mass present }{molar mass}
therefore number of NaOH moles - 4.00 g / 40 g/mol = 0.100 mol
since molar ratio of HCl to NaOH is 1:1
number of HCl moles required = 0.100 mol
Molarity of HCl is 1.0 M
this means that a volume of 1 L contains 1.0 mol
therefore volume containing 0.100 mol - 0.100 mol / 1.0 mol/L = 0.10 L
volume of HCl required = 100 mL

What kind of solution would you have if it contained 50 grams of sodium chloride in 100 mL of water at 30˚C?
Svetlanka [38]

Answer:

Supersaturated solution.

Explanation:

Hello!

In this case, according to the types of solution in terms of the relative amounts of solute and solvent, we can define a point called solubility at which the amount of solute is no longer dissolved in the solvent; thus, a value of solute/solvent less than the solubility is related to unsaturated solutions, equal to the solubility is related to the saturated solutions and more than the solubility to supersaturated solutions.

Thus, since solubility is temperature-dependent, at 30 °C the solubility of sodium chloride is 36.09 g per 100 mL of water; which means that, since the solution has 50 g of sodium chloride, more than 36.09 g, we infer this is a supersaturated solution.

Best regards!

The density of lava is 3.1 g/cm². It has a volume of 2700 cm3. How much does this block of lava weigh?
konstantin123 [22]

Answer:

Mass of lava is 8370 g.

Explanation:

Density:

Density is equal to the mass of substance divided by its volume.

Units:

SI unit of density is Kg/m3.

Other units are given below,

g/cm3, g/mL , kg/L

Formula:

D=m/v

D= density

m=mass

V=volume

Symbol:

The symbol used for density is called rho. It is represented by ρ. However letter D can also be used to represent the density.

Given data:

density of lava = 3.1 g/cm³

volume= 2700 cm³

mass= ?

Solution:

d = m/v

m = d×v

m = 3.1 g/cm³×2700 cm³

m = 8370 g
