Julie throws a ball to her friend Sarah. The ball leaves Julie's hand a distance 1.5 meters above the ground with an initial spe
Lisa [10]

Answer:

1) v₀x = 13.76 m/s

2) v₀y = 19.66 m/s

3) ymax = 21.199 m

4) X = 55.1746 m

5) and 6) y = 18.4 m

Explanation:

1) v₀x = v₀*Cos α = 24 m/s* Cos 55° = 13.76 m/s

2) v₀y = v₀*Sin α = 24 m/s* Sin 55° = 19.66 m/s

3) ymax = y₀ + (v₀y²/(2g)) = 1.5 m + ((19.66 m/s)²/(2*9.81 m/s²)) = 21.199 m

4) We can use this equation

y = y₀ + (tan α)*x – (g / (2* v₀x²))*x²

where y = y₀ = 1.5 m

then

1.5 = 1.5 + tan (55°)*x - (9.81 / (2* (13.76)²))*x²

⇒   0.02588 x² - 1.42815 x = 0

Solving this equation we get

x₁ = 0     and    x₂ = 55.1746 m

The distance between the two girls is 55.1746 m

5) and 6) If   v₀x = 15 m/s = vx   and   ymax = 24 m

y = ?   when x = (xmax/2)

ymax = y₀ + (v₀y²/(2g)) ⇒ v₀y = √(2g*(ymax - y₀))

⇒ v₀y = √(2(9.81 m/s²)(24 m - 1.5 m)) = 21.01 m/s

then we get α' as follows

α' = tan⁻¹(v₀y/v₀x) = tan⁻¹(21.01 m/s/15 m/s) = 54.47°

v₀ = √(v₀x² + v₀y²) = √((15 m/s)² + (21.01 m/s)²) = 25.81 m/s

Now we can apply the equation of the path

y = ymax - ((gx²)/(2v₀²))

⇒  y = 24m - ((9.81)(55.1746/2)²/(2*25.81²))

⇒  y = 18.4 m

Zinc metal (Zn) and sulfur powder (s) undergo a chemical reaction to form zinc sulfide (ZnS) which equation represents this chem
dexar [7]

Zinc metal (Zn) reacts with sulfur (S) to create zinc sulfide (ZnS), and the chemical reaction is: Zn (s) + S (s) = ZnS (s).

Importance of Zinc (Zn) and sulfur (S):

  • Zinc(Zn) is a vital element that our systems need to absorb food and nutrients as well as create healthy skin and bones. Zinc(Zn) ions play a crucial role in a number of the body's enzymes.
  • Sulfur(S) is a pale yellow, tasteless, brittle solid that is also necessary for life. It is found in many proteins as well as the amino acids cysteine and methionine. It is a trace element found in bone minerals, bodily fluids, and lipids.

Chemical reaction -

In this experiment, heating a zinc(Zn) and sulfur(S) combination causes an interesting chemical reaction. A blinding flash of light, hot sparks, a hissing sound, and a cloud of white smoke in the shape of a mushroom are produced.

Therefore, the following chemical processes are taking place in the reaction: Zn (s) + S (s) = ZnS (s).

A block of 250-mm length and 48 × 40-mm cross section is to support a centric compressive load P. The material to be used is a b
Marrrta [24]

Answer:

153.6 kN

Explanation:

The elastic constant k of the block is

k = E * A/l

k = 95*10^9 * 0.048*0.04/0.25 = 729.6 MN/m

0.12% of the original length is:

0.0012 * 0.25 m = 0.0003  m

Hooke's law:

F = x * k

Where x is the change in length

F = 0.0003 * 729.6*10^6 = 218.88 kN (maximum force admissible by deformation)

The compressive load will generate a stress of

σ = F / A

F = σ * A

F = 80*10^6 * 0.048 * 0.04 = 153.6 kN

The smallest admisible load is 153.6 kN

If one bulb broke in series circuit the other will light up ?
Charra [1.4K]
It makes no difference whether there are two bulbs or 1000 bulbs. If they are all in series then when one bulb burns out, or one little piece of wire between two bulbs comes loose, ALL of them go dark. In that situation it's a challenge to find where the break in the circuit is because all of the bulbs are dark.
