So unfortunately I can't draw on this thing. You can plot the points according to the (x, y) ordered pairs. The first number in each pair is how many units you move along the x axis (horizontal) and the second number is how many units to move along the y axis (vertical or up and down). For (-5, -2) start at the center (where the lines cross) and go backwards 5 spaces. Staying on that -5 line, go down 2 spaces. That's where you will put your first point. For (-5, 9) go backwards 5 spaces, but this time go up 9 spaces. This is the location for your second point. (9, 9) requires you to go forward 9 spaces, and up 9 spaces. And finally for (9,-2) go forward 9 spaced = \sqrt{(x_{2}-x_{1} )^{2} - (y_{2}-y_{1} )^{2}}s, and down 2. When you connect the dots, you should get a rectangle.

Now find the perimeter of the rectangle by counting the squares. Multiply what you get by 10 to get the number of meters. That is the graphical way to solve.

You could also use the distance formula:

d = \sqrt{(x_{2}-x_{1}  )^{2} - (y_{2}-y_{1}  )^{2}}

Since either y or x will be the same for each pair, a significant portion of this formula can be ignored. For the first pair, let's do (-5, 9) and (9, 9). This would be the top of the rectangle.

Put this into the formula and get:

d = \sqrt{(9-(-5)  )^{2} - (9-9  )^{2}}\\\\= \sqrt{(14  )^{2} - 0}\\\\=\sqrt{14^{2}}}\\\\= 14

So the first side or length is 14 units.

Now let's do (-5, -2) and (9, -2). The y is the same here so we can just do:

d = \sqrt{ (x_{2} -x_{1}) - (y_{2}-y_{1} ) ^{2} }\\\\= \sqrt{ (9 -(-5))^{2}  - ((-2)-(-2)) ^{2} }}\\\\=\sqrt{13^{2} - 0}\\\\= 13

The other side or width is 13 units.

The formula for the perimeter is 2L + 2W.

2(14) + 2(13) = 26 + 28 = 54 units

Now we know that each unit is 10 meters long, so multiply 54 by 10.

The answer is 540 meters.

Suppose you draw a card from a well shuffled deck of playing cards what is probability of drawing a ace
Tasya [4]
So there are a totally of 52 cards right?(not counting jokers because jokers are not in official cards)
And there are 4 aces right?
So there are 52 outcomes and 4 of them are aces.
So when we write probabilities we write it in fraction form where the total number of outcomes is the denominator and the ones you want to get are the numerator OK?
So the total number is outcomes is 52 and becomes the denominator and 4 the number of aces become the numerator.
So 4/52 right?
And we now have to simplify it right?
And so we divide by the highest common factor right?
In this case 4 because there isn’t other numbers that are factors and greater than 4.
So 4 divided by 4/52 is 1/13 right?
4 goes into 4 1 time and 13 times into 52.
So your answer is 1/13

NISA [10]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Here is the complete question.

Dominique, Marco, Roberto , and John work for a publishing company. The company wants to send two employees to a statistics conference. To be fair, the company decides that the two individuals who get to attend will have their names drawn from a hat. This is like obtaining a simple random sample of size 2. (a) Determine the sample space of the experiment. That is, list all possible simple random samples of size n = 2. (b) What is the probability that Dominique and Marco attend the conference? (c) What is the probability that John attends the conference?  (d) What is the probability that John stays home?

Since there are four employees to select the two to send from. then for us to get the sample space for the experiment we need to merge all possible two employees and represent them as set.

Let D = Dominique, M = Marco, R = Roberto and J = John

a) The sample space for the experiment is the total number of possible outcomes that we can have. It is as given below

S = 4C2 = 4!/(4-2)!2! (Selecting 2 out of 4 employees)

Total sample space = 4!/2!2!

Total sample space = 4*3*2!/2!2

Total sample space = 12/2 = 6

The sample space are S = {DM, DR, DJ, MR, MJ, RJ}

b) Probability is the ratio of number of event to the sample space.

P = n(E)/n(S)

Given n(S) = 6

n(E) is the event of Dominique and Marco attending the conference.

E = {DM}

n(E) = 1

P(D and M) = 1/6

Hence  the probability that Dominique and Marco attend the conference is 1/6

c) For John to attend the conference, the event outcome will be given as;

E = {DJ, MJ, RJ}

n(E) = 3

n(S) = 6

Probability for John to attend the conference is 3/6 = 1/2

d) Probability that John stays at home = 1 - Prob (John attends the conference)

Probability that John stays at home = 1 - 1/2

Probability that John stays at home = 1/2
