F(x) = -5x + 1

f(-3) = ?

subtitute x = -3 to the equation of the function:

f(-3) = -5 · (-3) + 1 = 15 + 1 = 16

<span>f(x) = −5x + 1
putting the value of  x= -3 in above function
</span>f(-3)=-5x-3+1
f(-3)= 15+1
=16.

Solve for x. 3/4 = x/12 <br> I need work shown to
marta [7]

\frac{3}{4} = \frac{x}{12}

To solve for x you have to bring the 12 to the other side

How  do we do this?

Well if you think about it this is technically what the equation shows

\frac{3}{4} = x * \frac{1}{12}

This means to isolate x you can multiply both sides by 12 and that will cancel \frac{1}{12} from the right side

\frac{3}{4} * 12 = x * \frac{1}{12} * 12

\frac{36}{4} = x * 1\\\frac{36}{4}  = x

\frac{36}{4} can be further simplified to...

9

^^^This is the answer

Check:

3/4 = 9/12

3/4 = 3/4

Hope this helped!
