In a closed circuit containing one resistor and a battery, if the voltage in the battery increases, the current going through th

e resistor increases. Why does this occur? A) as the electrons are sped up, they bunch closer together B) as the electrons have more energy, they vibrate more rapidly C) as the electrons are pushed more by the battery, they move faster through the circuit D) as the distance around the circuit increases, the electrons take longer to travel around

ANSWER:

C) as the electrons are pushed more by the battery, they move faster through the circuit

EXPLANATION:

Electrons move very slowly. When we supply voltage the current through a wire moves which causes each electron to move in the direction of the flow of current, the electrons which were in random motions previously now move in one direction which is the direction of current,the more we supply the current the faster electrons will move in the circuit,which will cause the current to increase with increase in voltage.

A 2 kg melon is balanced on your bald uncle’s head. His son, Throckmorton, shoots a 50 g (0.05kg) arrow at it with a speed of 30
sineoko [7]

Answer:

The speed of the melon as it flies off the man’s head is 0.3 m/s.

Explanation:

Given;

mass of the melon, m₁ = 2 kg

initial speed of the melon, u₁ = 0

mass of arrow, m₂ = 0.05 kg

initial speed of the arrow, u₂ = 30 m/s

final speed of the arrow, v₂ = 18 m/s

let v₁ be the final speed of the melon as it flies off the man's head.

Apply the principle of conservation of linear momentum;

m₁u₁ + m₂u₂ = m₁v₁ + m₂v₂

2(0) + 0.05 x 30 = 2v₁  + 0.05 x 18

1.5 = 2v₁ + 0.9

2v₁ = 1.5 - 0.9

2v₁ = 0.6

v₁ = 0.6 / 2

v₁ = 0.3 m/s

Therefore, the speed of the melon as it flies off the man’s head is 0.3 m/s.

consider a charged parallel-plate capacitor. which combination of changes would quadruple its capacitance?
kogti [31]

Its capacitance Double the charge and double the plate area.

Doubling the distance between the plates of a capacitor double the capacitance. Doubling the distance between the plates of a capacitor quadruples the capacitance. As the distance between the plates decreases, the capacitance increases because the potential difference decreases.

Halving the distance between the plates of a parallel plate capacitor doubles the capacitance of the capacitor from its initial capacitance. When two or more capacitors are connected in parallel, the overall effect is that of a single equivalent capacitor with the sum of the plate areas of the individual capacitors. As we saw earlier all other factors being equal, more disk space equals more capacity.
