5. An object has a momentum of 4,000 kg-m/s and a mass of 115 kg. It crashes into another object that has a mass of 100 kg, and
marishachu [46]

Answer:

D. 18.60

Explanation:

By the law of conservation, the momentum is neither loss nor gained but instead transfered. When they crash into each other, and stick, they combine to create a total mass of 215 kg. Since the momentum is transfered, the two objects, combined, have a total momentum of 4000 kg-m/s. We know that momentum equals mass times velocity. You then divide 4000 by 215 and get approximately 18.6 m/s

How long was a 60 W light bulb turned on if it used a total of 580 J of energy?
icang [17]
Here's the tool you need.  You can't answer the question without this:

           "1 watt"
means
"1 joule of energy, generated, used, or moved, every second".

So      60 watts  =  60 joules per second

           Total energy generated,
used, or moved                  = (power) x (time).

                                     580 joules  =  (60 watts) x (time)

Divide each side
by  (60 watts):              Time  =  (580 joules) / (60 joules/sec)

                                               =  (9 and 2/3)  seconds  .

How does Newton's third law of motion describe forces?
svetlana [45]
I would say your answer is B, since Newton's 3rd law is, "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction."
It's talking about pairs of actions. Sorry if I'm wrong.

Does a thicker core make an electromagnet stronger?
goldenfox [79]

Answer:

Yes

Explanation:

The core of an electromagnet serves to stabilize the magnetic field created by the wire. The thicker the core, the more metal there is to amplify the current. Therefore, a thicker core does make an electromagnet stronger. Hope this helps!
