Pancytopenia is a condition in which the quantity of red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets decrease in the body of a person. Chemotherapy and radiation are serious procedures that along with killing the cancerous cells also destroy many of the normal cells of the body. Hence, chemotherapy and radiation leads to decrease in all the three hematopoietic cell lines of the body causing a condition referred to as Pancytopenia.
