Answer:

50.33 mi.

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>GIVEN :-</u>

Coordinates of :-

  • Home = (0 , 0)
  • School = (4 , 3)
  • Pizza place = (-8 , 2)
  • Movie Theater = (-4 , -6)
  • Park = (7 , -5)

<u>TO FIND :-</u>

  • Total distance travelled on Friday & Saturday.

<u>GENERAL FORMULAE TO BE USED IN THIS QUESTION :-</u>

Lets say there are two points A & B on a cartesian plane whose coordinates are (x₁ , y₁) & (x₂ , y₂).

Distance between A & B = \sqrt{(x_2 - x_1)^2 + (y_2 - y_1)^2}

<u>SOLUTION :-</u>

According to question ,

On Friday , you -

  • leave school and go to pizza palace. Distance travelled from school to pizza palace = \sqrt{(4 -(-8) )^2 + (3 - 2)^2} = \sqrt{(12)^2 + (1)^2} = \sqrt{145} ≈ 12.04 mi.
  • go to movie theater after pizza palace. Distance travelled from pizza palace to movie theater = \sqrt{[(-4) -(-8)]^2 + (-6 - 2)^2} = \sqrt{(4)^2 + (-8)^2} = \sqrt{80}= 4\sqrt{5} ≈ 8.94 mi.
  • come back to your home after the movies. Distance travelled from theater to home = \sqrt{[0-(-4)]^2 + (0 - 6)^2} = \sqrt{(4)^2 + (-6)^2} = \sqrt{52} = 2\sqrt{13} ≈ 7.21 mi.

⇒ <em>On Friday , total distance travelled = 12.04 + 8.94 + 7.21 = 28.19 mi.</em>

On Saturday , you -

  • go to park from your home. Distance travelled from home to park = \sqrt{(7 -0 )^2 + (-5 - 0)^2} = \sqrt{(7)^2 + (-5)^2} = \sqrt{74} ≈ 8.6 mi.
  • go to school after going to park. Distance travelled from park to school = \sqrt{(4 -7 )^2 + [3 - (-5)]^2} = \sqrt{(-3)^2 + (8)^2} = \sqrt{73} ≈ 8.54 mi.
  • go to home after playing basketball in school. Distance travelled from school to home = \sqrt{(0 -4 )^2 + (0 - 3)^2} = \sqrt{(-4)^2 + (-3)^2} = \sqrt{25} = 5 mi.

⇒ <em>On Saturday , total distance travelled = 8.6 + 8.54 + 5 = 22.14 mi.</em>

∴ Total distance travelled on Friday & Saturday = 28.19 + 22.14 = 50.33 mi.

solniwko [45]

Answer:

f(x) = 26500 * (0.925)^x

It will take 7 years

Step-by-step explanation:

A car with an initial cost of $26,500 depreciates at a rate of 7.5% per year. Write the function that models this situation. Then use your formula to determine when the value of the car will be $15,000 to the nearest year.

To find the formula we will use this formula: f(x) = a * b^x. A is our initial value which in this case is $26500. B is how much the value is increasing or decreasing. In this case it is decreasing by 7.5% per year. Since the car value is decreasing we will subtract 0.075 from 1. This will result in the formula being f(x) = 26500 * (0.925)^x. Now to find the value of the car to the nearest year of when the car will be 15000 we plug 15000 into f(x). 15000 = 26500 * (0.925)^x. First we divide both side by 26500 which will make the equation: 0.56603773584=(0.925)^x. Then we will root 0.56603773584 by 0.925. This will result in x being 7.29968 which is approximately 7 years.

You buy candy bars at 85 cents each plus one newspaper for 60 cents. You can spend no more than $4. How many candy bars can you
Lilit [14]

Answer:

4

Step-by-step explanation:

Well first you want to take 0.60 from the total amount which is $4 leaving you with $3.40

then you want to divide the remaining amount of money by the cost of a candy bar ($0.85)

So you do 3.40/0.85 which is equal to 4
