Answer:

13.5x + 5

Step-by-step explanation:

12x + 1.5x - 2 - 7 (you always want to work left to right)

13.5x - (2 - 7) (you are free to use the associative property here to isolate like terms)

13.5x - (-5) (remember a number less in value subtracted from a higher value will result in a negative value; giving you this value for instance.)

13.5x + 5 (now since it was basically subtracting a negative from 13.5x you can technically say the same thing by turning the negative value to a positive however you must do the opposite of subtraction as well.)

10.5x-9 is correct but I think there may be an equal sign in this question if not this is right

If the endpoints of AB have the coordinates A(9, 8) and B(-1, -2), what is the midpoint of AB?
pickupchik [31]
The midpoint, if the endpoints are (x₁,y₁) and (x₂,y₂):
(\frac{x_1+x_2}{2}, \frac{y_1+y_2}{2})

(9,8) \\
x_1=9 \\ y_1=8 \\ \\
(-1,-2) \\
x_2=-1 \\ y_2=-2 \\ \\
\frac{x_1+x_2}{2}=\frac{9-1}{2}=\frac{8}{2}=4 \\
\frac{y_1+y_2}{2}=\frac{8-2}{2}=\frac{6}{2}=3

The midpoint of AB is (4,3).

A huge ice glacier in the Himalayas initially covered an area of 454545 square kilometers. Because of changing weather patterns,
zloy xaker [14]

Answer:

t=-20ln\left(\dfrac{1}{3}\right)

Step-by-step explanation:

The relationship between A, the area of the glacier in square kilometers, and t, the number of years the glacier has been melting, is modeled by the equation.:

A=45e^{-0.05t}

We want to determine the value of t for which the area, A(t)=15 square kilometers.

15=45e^{-0.05t}\\$Divide both sides by 45\\\dfrac{15}{45} =\dfrac{45e^{-0.05t}}{45}\\\dfrac{1}{3}=e^{-0.05t}\\$Take the natural logarithm of both sides\\ln\left(\dfrac{1}{3}\right)=ln\left(e^{-0.05t}\right)\\ln\left(\dfrac{1}{3}\right)=-0.05t\\$Divide both sides by -0.05$\\t=-\dfrac{ln\left(\dfrac{1}{3}\right)}{0.05} \\=-\dfrac{ln\left(\dfrac{1}{3}\right)}{0.05}\\t=-20ln\left(\dfrac{1}{3}\right)

Therefore, the time for which the area will be 15 sqyare kilometers is:

-20 ln(1/3) years.
