Answer:

The three main rock types are igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary. The three processes that change one rock to another are crystallization, metamorphism, and erosion and sedimentation. Any rock can transform into any other rock by passing through one or more of these processes. This creates the rock cycle.

Answer:

The three main rock types are igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary. The three processes that change one rock to another are crystallization, metamorphism, and erosion and sedimentation. Any rock can transform into any other rock by passing through one or more of these processes. This creates the rock cycle. Also, new minerals can grow in the spaces within the material, cementing it together. Some sedimentary rocks form in other ways, as when water evaporates, leaving behind minerals that were dissolved in it. (MEHT-uh-MAWR-fihk) forms when heat or pressure causes older rocks to change into new types of rock.

TECTONIC PLATES

a theory explaining the structure of the earth's crust and many associated phenomena as resulting from the interaction of rigid lithospheric plates which move slowly over the underlying mantle.
VALCONES AND TECTONIC

Most volcanoes form at the boundaries of Earth's tectonic plates. These plates are huge slabs of the Earth's crust and upper mantle, which fit together like pieces of a puzzle. These plates are not fixed, but are constantly moving at a very slow rate. They move only a few centimeters per year.

If 588 grams of FeS2 is allowed to react with 352 grams of O2 according to the following equation, how many grams of Fe2O3 are p
Rainbow [258]

<u>Answer:</u> The mass of iron (III) oxide  produced is 782.5 grams

<u>Explanation:</u>

To calculate the number of moles, we use the equation:

\text{Number of moles}=\frac{\text{Given mass}}{\text{Molar mass}}     .....(1)

  • <u>For </u>FeS_2<u> :</u>

Given mass of FeS_2 = 588 g

Molar mass of FeS_2 = 120 g/mol

Putting values in equation 1, we get:

\text{Moles of }FeS_2=\frac{588g}{120g/mol}=4.9mol

  • <u>For </u>O_2<u> :</u>

Given mass of O_2 = 352 g

Molar mass of O_2 = 32 g/mol

Putting values in equation 1, we get:

\text{Moles of }O_2=\frac{352g}{32g/mol}=11mol

The chemical equation for the reaction of FeS_2 and oxygen gas follows:

FeS_2+O_2\rightarrow Fe_2O_3+SO_2

By Stoichiometry of the reaction:

1 mole of FeS_2 reacts with 1 mole of oxygen gas

So, 4.9 moles of FeS_2 will react with = \frac{1}{1}\times 4.9=4.9mol of oxygen gas

As, given amount of oxygen gas is more than the required amount. So, it is considered as an excess reagent.

Thus, FeS_2 is considered as a limiting reagent because it limits the formation of product.

By Stoichiometry of the reaction:

1 mole of FeS_2 produces 1 mole of iron (III) oxide

So, 4.9 moles of FeS_2 will produce = \frac{1}{1}\times 4.9=4.9moles of iron (III) oxide

Now, calculating the mass of iron (III) oxide  from equation 1, we get:

Molar mass of iron (III) oxide  = 159.7 g/mol

Moles of iron (III) oxide  = 4.9 moles

Putting values in equation 1, we get:

4.9mol=\frac{\text{Mass of iron (III) oxide}}{159.7g/mol}\\\\\text{Mass of iron (III) oxide}=(4.9mol\times 159.7g/mol)=782.5g

Hence, the mass of iron (III) oxide  produced is 782.5 grams

A sample of gas occupies a volume of 50.0 milliliters in a cylinder with a movable piston. The pressure of the sample is 0.90 at
solong [7]

Answer:

The volume of sample at STP is = 41.22 ml

Explanation:

Given data

P_{1} = 0.9 atm

V_{1} = 50 ml

T_{1} = 298 K

At STP

P_{2} = 1 atm

T_{2} = 273 K

From ideal gas equation

\frac{P_1(V_1)}{T_1} = \frac{P_2(V_2)}{T_2}

\frac{(0.9)(50)}{298} = \frac{(1) V_2}{273}

V_2 = 41.22 ml

Therefore the volume of sample at STP is = 41.22 ml

How does ocean currents affect climate i need it in 8 sentences.
alex41 [277]
Ocean currents move both warm and cool water across many miles. Warm water can be carried to a cooler place like Alaska. It can bring warmer temperatures as well as warmer water to Alaska. Just like the warm water, cold water can do this as well. If cold water moves from Alaska to The Gulf of Mexico, it can cause the water and air to cool. As air travels over the ocean water vapor can condense into it. The current’s flow depends on what variables are in play. There are many different currents that connect together to heat up and cool off as they move.
