Biology

Answer:

The First and Third one for sure

Explanation:

Carnivores eat primary consumers as well as other carnivores if I'm not wrong, which would make them secondary or higher consumers.

Also, herbivores eat producers, which are plants and stuff and basically organisms that make their own food, which would make them primary consumers.

Antarctica is covered in ice. Which of the following would you expect to be true of Antarctica? A. The ice reflects no radiation
geniusboy [140]

Answer:

C

Explanation:

Albedo is a measure of ‘whiteness’ or reflectivity which is also the rate at which a surface is able to reflect a percentage of solar radiation it receives. White surfaces have a higher albedo which is why Arctic and Antarctic regions with lots of ice sheets have a high albedo. They play a big role in regulating global temperatures. The larger the ice sheet cover in the antarctic and arctic regions, the more they reflect solar radiation back to space hence keeping the temperatures on earth from rising considerably.

Which organism is considered to be the simplest of protist given its unicellular structure and ability to change its shape in re
Artist 52 [7]

The simplest form of protist based on its simple cell structure and ability to change shape in response to external disturbance would be amoeba.

Amoeba

Amoeba is a unicellular organism that belongs to the division of living organisms known as protists.

Amoeba can be found in freshwater environments such as ponds, moist soils, lakes, etc. The cell contains important organelles such as the nucleus, contractile vacuole, etc.

A typical amoeba cell has no definitive shape but changes according to different environmental stimuli.

What is the mechanism(s) that bordetella pertussis uses to invade epithelial cells in the lungs?
MaRussiya [10]

The mechanism of action of Bordetella pertussis is to stop the cilia of epithelial cells from beating.

Bordetella pertussis is a pathogenic, gram-negative bacteria. It is the causative agent of highly communicable respiratory disease known as pertussis or whooping cough.

The mechanism of action of Bordetella pertussis:

 • This bacterium colonizes the ciliated epithelial cells of the respiratory airways of the host.
 • A surface protein on the bacteria called filamentous haemagglutinin adhesin binds to sulfatides on the cilia of epithelial cells. When the bacterium is anchored, it releases tracheal cytotoxin, which prevents the cilia from beating.
 • As a result, the cilia in an organism's lungs are unable to sweep out foreign material, and the body reacts by causing the host to cough. When people cough, bacteria are released into the air, where they might spread to other hosts.
 • Another toxin called the pertussis toxin, often known as PTx, prevents adenylate cyclase from using ATP to convert to cyclic AMP. This results in over-conversion of ATP to cyclic AMP, which may interfere with cellular signaling systems. As a result, phagocytes are unable to respond to an infection effectively.

Dr. Haxton told one of his students, "To move in the bloodstream, fats need the help of phospholipids." What would a good studen
GarryVolchara [31]

Answer:

C. Yes. Nonpolar molecules aren't compatible with water.

Explanation:

Blood has the liquid plasma, a watery medium. Fats are nonpolar and can not enter the bloodstream as such. The long-chain fatty acids and monoglycerides enter the absorptive cells of the small intestine and form the triglycerides again.

These triglycerides are packed into chylomicrons by making aggregates with phospholipids and cholesterol and become covered with proteins. These packed fats enter the bloodstream in the form of chylomicrons.
