Stainless steel is an alloy of iron containing 5 percent nickel and 0.175 percent chromium. How many atoms of nickel are present
erica [24]
First you need to work out what mass of 84g of stainless steel is nickel, and because there's 5% you can simply divide by 20, giving 4.2g

For this you can use the equation Moles= \frac{Mass}{Mr}

The mass, as was worked out previously, is 4.2g
The Mr, which is found on the periodic table, is 28

Moles = \frac{4.2}{28} = 0.15mol

1mol = 6.023 x 10^{23} atoms

So, 0.15mol = 0.15 x 6.023 x 10^{23} = 9.0345 x 10^{22} atoms

Give the name of the reaction that achieves the theoretical limits with respect to free energy in thermodynamics.a. reversible r
Assoli18 [71]

Answer:

The correct option is: a. reversible reaction

Explanation:

In thermodynamics, Gibb's free energy is the quantitative measure of the <u>spontaneity or feasibility </u>of a chemical reaction, at fixed temperature and pressure.

It can also be described as the <u>maximum available work obtained from a closed system</u>. This maximum work can only be achieved in a reversible process, <u>at fixed pressure and temperature.</u>

<u>The Gibb's free energy (ΔG) is given by</u>: ΔG = ΔH - T.ΔS

23 grams of sodium reacts with 293 cm 3 of water that is initially at 298 k. it produces an enthalpy change of 197 kj. what is t
m_a_m_a [10]

448 K is the final temperature of the water.

<h3>What is specific heat capacity?</h3>

The specific heat capacity is defined as the quantity of heat (J) absorbed per unit mass (kg) of the material when its temperature increases by 1 K (or 1 °C), and its units are J/(kg K) or J/(kg °C).

Given,

the mass of Na is 23 g

The volume of water = 293 cm3

Mass of water = 293 g

Total solution mass = 23 g + 293 g = 316 g

Specific heat capacity of water = 4.18 J/Kg

The equation relating mass, heat, specific heat capacity and temperature change is:

q = mcΔT

197 kJ = 316 g x 4.18 J/Kg x (T_{finals} - T_ {initial})

197 kJ = 316 g x 4.18 J/Kg x ( T_{finals}-298 K)

0.1491429956 x 1000 =  T_{finals}-298 K

149.1429956 + 298 = T_{finals}

447.1429956 = T_{finals}

448 K = T_{finals}

Hence, 448 K is the final temperature of the water.

<h3>What does a high specific heat capacity mean?</h3>

A high specific heat capacity means that it can store a large amount of thermal energy for a small change in mass or temperature.
