A hunter stood at about 60 m away from a tree. He used the bow to release the arrow in order to shoot a coconut held by a monkey

in the tree. The coconut was at a height of 25 m from the ground. The hunter aimed directly at the coconut and the arrow left the bow at 45 m/s making an angle of 20 degree to the horizontal. At the moment the hunter released the arrow, the monkey dropped the coconut such that it falls vertically from rest. Neglect air resistance and the arrow's size. What is the time taken for the arrow to hit the coconut?

Answer:

Time taken to reach the tree

they have given the maximum height which is 25m

therefore...

v=u+at (upward)

0 = 45sin(20)-9.81t

t = 1.56s

A 30-cm-diameter, 1.2 kg solid turntable rotates on a 1.2-cm-diameter, 450 g shaft at a constant 33 rpm. When you hit the stop s
skelet666 [1.2K]

Answer:

frictional force = 0.52 N

Explanation:

diameter of turn table (D1) = 30 cm = 0.3 m

mass of turn table (M1) = 1.2 kg

diameter of shaft (D2) = 1.2 cm = 0.012 m

mass of shaft (M2) = 450 g = 0.45 kg

time (t) = 15 seconds

acceleration due to gravity (g) = 9.8 m/s^{2}

radius of turn table (R1) = 0.3 / 2 = 0.15 m

radius of shaft (R2) = 0.012 / 2 = 0.006 m

total moment of inertia (I) = moment of inertia of turn table + moment of inertia of shaft

I = 0.5(M1)(R1)^{2} + O.5 (M2)(R2)^{2}

I =  0.5(1.2)(0.15)^{2} + O.5 (0.45)(0.006)^{2}

I = 0.0135 + 0.0000081 = 0.0135081

ω₁ = 33 rpm = 33 x \frac{2π}{60} = 3.5 rad/s

α = -ω₁/t = -3.5 / 15 = -0.23 rad/s^{2}

torque = I x α

torque = 0.0135081 x (-0.23) = - 0.00311 N.m

torque = frictional force x R2

- 0.00311 = frictional force x 0.006

frictional force = 0.52 N

A monkey has a bit of a heavy for on the gas pedal. As soon as the light turns green the monkey pushes the gas pedal to the floo
Andrei [34K]

Answer:

s=6.86m/s^2

Explanation:

Hello,

In this case, considering that the acceleration is computed as follows:

a=\frac{v_{final}-v_{initial}}{t}

Whereas the final velocity is 28.82 m/s, the initial one is 0 m/s and the time is 4.2 s. Thus, the acceleration turns out:

a=\frac{28.82m/s-0m/s}{4.2s}\\ \\s=6.86m/s^2

Regards.

Based on the law of conservation of energy, how can we reasonably improve a machine’s ability to do work?
kifflom [539]
Based on the law of conservation of energy, we know that we can't create energy, machines can only convert one type of energy into another. So, if we want to improve a machines's ability then we need to reduce it's loss energy (part of energy which is useless). Out of all the options only Option C fits best with it.

In short, Your Answer would be Option C

Hope this helps!
