If they have a potential neck or back injury, I would make sure they are at a good elevation with no possible way of making them sore later on.

If they are OK and can go home, and just have a sprained ankle, I would explain how to care for it with the RICE principle which stands for.... Rest, ice, Compression, and Elevation.
